KUET has been contributing significantly in higher education and research

The Hon’ble Chairman (State Minister) of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof. Dr. A K Azad Chowdhury has said that Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has been playing its role very significantly and contributing in the field of Science & Engineering and Research. Speaking as the Chief Guest on the University Day of KUET at 1st September 2012, he expressed his warm gratitude and shared his highly satisfactory feelings after coming here at KUET for the first time. He inaugurated and enjoyed the various events organized to celebrate the 9th University Day of KUET. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Vice-Chancellor of KUET, presided over all the events on this prestigious Day of KUET hoped that KUET will soon be turned into the ‘Centre of Excellence’ in the field of Engineering education and research in the south-western region of Bangladesh.
KUET celebrated its 9th founding anniversary on September 01, 2012 Saturday through a series of colourful programmes. Prof. Dr. A K Azad Chowdhury, the Hon’ble Chairman of UGC (State Minister) & the Chief Guest inaugurated the celebration by releasing pair of pigeons and a handful coloured balloons in front of the administrative building at 10:45 a.m. After that a grand rally was brought out by the students, teachers, officers, staff, ex-students, persons from civil societies and many others paraded at the University campus as well as Fulbarigate area of Khulna city with colourful banner, festoon and placard, carriage drawn by horses, drum music etc. at around 11:30 am. To mark the day various colourful programmes were taken such as hoisting national and university flags, blood donation, tree plantation, seminar, discussion meeting, special Doa-Mahfil at the mosque, flim show and cultural programme.
In the seminar & discussion meeting preside over Prof. Alamgir, Prof. Dr. A K Azad Chowdhury spoke as the Chief, while. Prof. Dr. Al Nakib Chowdhury, BUET delivered the Key note paper titled as “Nano Technology: Science & Technology at a new height”. Prof Dr A N M Mizanur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of ME and convener of the 9thUniversity Day observance committee-2012, Prof. Dr. S.S. Sikder, Dean (in-charge), Faculty of CE, Prof. Dr. Ashraful G. Bhuiyan, Dean, Faculty of EEE were present as the Special Guests while Prof. Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid, Director (Students’ Welfare) delivered address of welcome in the meeting. Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor of Khulna University, Prof. Dr. M. Fayekuzzaman was also present in the program.
The main buildings and the roads on campus were decorated with colourful lights. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, in a message hoped the university would emerge as the best institution of Engineering education and researches in the coming days. It is to mention that the institution was first established in 1967 as Khulna Engineering College at Fhulbarigate area of Khulna city. The college was upgraded as Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) on July 1, 1986 and it turned into Khulna University of Engineering and Technology on September 1, 2003.
