New year, new books for the students of class one to nine “Textbook Festival 2017” as a part of countrywide free textbooks distribution program held at Khulna Engineering University School on 01 January at 10 am. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir distributed new free textbook among the students as the Chief Guest. In his speech, Prof. Alamgir urged the students to study hard because the fortune of Bangladesh depends on their success. He also thanked and expressed his gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh and related ministry for countrywide handed over new textbook to the students at the first day of new year. In this time he selected two Environment Minister from the student of a class to monitoring and inspire other students to built the clean school campus. He also order to the school authority to selected Environment Minister each class such as way. Among others Mr. T M Sanaur Rahman, Headmaster of Khulna Engineering University School, Md. Akbar Hossain, Headmaster of Unmesh Govt. Primary School, all teachers, students, guardians and others were also present at the occasion.

Annual Sports Competition 2016 held at KUET. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the function by raising the national flag, releasing pair of pigeons and a handful colored balloons on 30 December at 9 a.m. at the University play ground. He said sports can ensure the brotherhood mentality among the students which can make the nation developed in future. Students should take part in sports besides there studies. He also expressed his joy after watching the students’ enthusiastic manner at the competition. Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia, who was also the President of the Annual Sports 2016 competition committee was present there. Among others Provosts of different Halls, Deans, Directors, Departmental Heads, other teachers, Officers, students and staffs were present in the function.

Later, at 4:00 p.m. Dr. Sri Biren Shikder, Hon’ble State Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh has given away prizes among the winners of the competitions as the Chief Guest while Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir President over the function. Two dayy long 4th International Conference on Mechanical, Industrial and Energy Engineering (ICMIEE)-2016 was held at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) on 26 & 27 December. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of KUET has been organized the conference to share knowledge and experiences at international level to develop new ideas about proper utilize of Mechanical Engineering facilities through use of modern science and technologies.

On 26 December at 10 a.m. in the Inaugural Ceremony Prof. Dr. M. H. At 3 PM at the Vice-Chancellor office he meet with the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. This time, Dean of CE Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, Dean of EEE Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the Victory Day on December 16, 2016 by paying utmost respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971. KUET took elaborate programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.

On 16 December The national flag flew in front of all important buildings at early in the morning. At 9:30 pm “Gonosongit” held at the Premises of Liberation sculpture “Durbar Bangla” at Campus. At 10 pm Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir placed floral wreaths on Liberation Sculpture “Durbar Bangla” on behalf of the University. Later, KUET Teachers Association, Director (Students’ Welfare), KUET Officers Association, KUET Chattra League, Staff Association, Bangabandhu Karmachary Parishad, Tangail Association, Cattra Front & other organizations of KUET placed floral wreath at the memorial. at 10:30 pm a grand colorful Victory Procession “Bijoy Sovajatra” started and paraded the whole University campus, Fulbari Gate area led by the VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. Later short film related to our Liberation War presented at the auditorium which is created by KUET Students.

Friendly football match between, Teacher and Student held on the play ground at 3:30 pm. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation’s bravest sons. Discussion Meeting and Cultural programmes also held at the auditorium at the evening.

On 15 December, 16 at 3:30 pm a drawing competition for children was also held at the university auditorium to mark the Victory Day.

Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14, 2016 Wednesday by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in an effort to rid the country of its intelligentsia just two days before the final victory in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971.

The authorities of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) took elaborate programs to observe the day in a befitting manner. Black flags were hoisted and the national flag flew at half-mast atop all important buildings of the University with the rising of the Sun.

At 10:30 a.m. teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession led by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. At 11: 00 a.m. a discussion meeting was also held at the university auditorium with Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia in the chair. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir delivered his speech as the Chief Guest. Dean of CE Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, Dean of EEE faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Day long workshop on `Team Building workshop: Self-Assessment and Quality Assurance in Higher Education’ held at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on 07 December, 2016. On 22 November 2016, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir,Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) Deliver a Special Talk on "Solid Waste Management and Resource Recovery in Bangladesh" at the invitation of Dr. Pratap Kumar Padhy, Head of Department of Environmental Studies, Visva-Bhatrati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India.

Post-graduate Students and Teachers from the Department of Environmental studies, Biotechnology and Integrated Science & Research Center (ISERC) were present at the program. After the presentation, a discussion meeting was held and it is agreed that bi-lateral cooperation in education, research and faculty exchange will take place in future.

Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, VC of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), inaugurated “Officers Club” on November 20, 2016 at 03.30 pm. At the inauguration ceremony, in a short speech, he said, officers will be celebrate their various club activities smoothly here. World Town Planning Day 2016 was observed in Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) on 17 November, 2016 with rally & discussion meeting organized by the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP). At 11:30 a.m. teachers, students, officers, employees gathered and brought out a rally from the administrative building and paraded the whole campus and ended in front of the New Academic building led by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir.

Later, discussion meeting as a part of celebration the World Town Planning Day 2016 Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present there as the Chief Guest and delivered his valuable speech. Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, Dean, CE Faculty, Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam, President, BIP Khulna chapter addressed as the Special Guests. Assistant Professor of the Dept. of URP Dr. Md. High tech park is going to be set up in the Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) campus as necessary process is progressing successfully creating high hopes among all quarters concerned particularly the business icons and ICT experts. Tuesday (15 November) at 3 pm at the conference room of the university signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and exchanged between Hi-Tech Park Authority and KUET. Managing Director of Hi-Tech Park Authority (Additional Secretary) Begum Hosne Ara, NDC and Registrar (In-Charge) of KUET G.M. Shahidul Alam signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

In the meantime, VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, deans, directors of the Institute, several departmental heads, directors, teachers and high officials were present at that time. They discuss various issues related to the Hi-Tech Park. The Managing Director of Hi-Tech Park Authority Begum Hosne Ara, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir and other related person visit the site to see for themselves its progress after the meeting.

During the Visiting, Managing Director of Hi-Tech Park Authority Begum Hosne Ara said, In order to achieve Digital Bangladesh we have to set up high-tech parks with the latest information technology gadgets, starting with divisional headquarters. Khulna is going to get a high-tech park as soon as possible through the best uses of information and communication technologies (ICT).

The Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir said, The hi-tech park is going to be established with a view to achieving a set of specific mission and vision of establishing a world class business environment for targeted high growth industrial sector and new business. "Likewise, it will provide employment for a large number of people in this area, including ICT buffs and professionals," he said.
