Khulna Division National High School Programming Contest 2015' targeting high school students in the country with 'Let them know, show yourself off' as its slogan held at Friday May 15th at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET). Organized by the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT) of Bangladesh government, the contest will cover the entire country. Secretary of the ICT Division, Mr. Shyam Sundor Sikder present in the program as the Chief Guest while Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was in the Chair.

Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) organized a day long teachers training program for the KUET teachers. KUET VC Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the program at conference room of the university administrative building on 09 May at 8.30 a.m. In inauguration speech he said, “A good teacher can be produced a lot of teachers. Teachers should develop appropriately through education and training.Education is the backbone of a nation. The more educated nation, the more advanced nation . There is no substitute of education for national development. On April 30, 2015, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, VC of KUET, inaugurates the construction works of the Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Building alongside the new academic building at KUET premises. At this simple foundation-stone laying ceremony, in a short speech, he says that after completion of the building academic activities can be held here smoothly. He also mentioned that with the start of this construction works, a long desire of the KUET gets into right shape. Right on the spots he directed the contractor, engineers and other relevant person to do everything to ensure better construction & timely completion of the project. Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year 1422 amid festivity on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. The whole university wore a festive dimension as the students of KUET installed stalls representing their respective halls for a Baishakhi Fair with pure Bengali fashion building straw & clay made beautiful huts. Very special “Panta” (watery rice) and fried Hilsha fish with green chilies, sort of native and indigenous cakes etc. were the main attractions in the fair.

Celebration started in the early morning with the enchanting Tagor’s melody song “Esho hey Baishakh esho esho” at the play ground of the evergreen KUET campus. At 10:00 am a grand colourful procession (Mongol Shovajatra) to mark the Pahela Baishakh started and paraded the whole varsity campus, Fulbari area led by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir with participants in traditional attire wearing multi-coloured masks, palanquins, bullock-carts etc. Cultural programmes, snake-charming, kite flying, cock fight, kabadi, fanush (paper-balloon) flying etc. were also the day long native attractions of the day. VC Prof. Alamgir attended all the programmes while Ms. Meherunnesa Lata, wife of VC accompanied him. Director (CC) of Students’ Welfare Md. Osman Goni Nayeem, teachers, students, officers and staff of the university attended all the programmes.

The Orientation Program of 813 newly admitted 1st year Undergraduate students of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology for the Session of 2014-2015 was held on April 9, 2015 at the KUET Auditorium. The students are informed about the Academic procedures, rules and regulations including registration, examination systems, other academic matters, disciplines and co-curricular activities.

Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present in the orientation ceremony as the Chief Guest and delivered speech there. He highlighted the importance of the best use of knowledge may overcome all obstacles even though we have much limitations of infrastructure and other recourses. The Chief Guest also underscored the need for quality education at the University of Bangladesh. He hoped that KUET will provide quality education to the students despite the existing constraints so that they will be successful at their professional life. Prof. Alamgir emphasized the seriousness and discipline of the students while they will be at KUET.

Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the country's 44th independence day on March 26, 2015 by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971.

On 25 March, 06.45 p.m. KUET teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession of candle light led by the VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, to remember March 25, 1971, the darkest night in the history of Bangladesh.

A charity cricket match between Teachers and Students of KUET was also held at the play ground at 11:00 am.

At 4:30 p.m. KUET Chattra leage and other students gathered and brought out a procession of National Flag to celebrate the country's 44th independence day.

After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the Nation’s bravest sons.

Later, at 07.00 p.m. Discussion Meeting and Cultural Programmes related to independence day was held at the auditorium. KUET School, KUET Kormochary Somity also brought out different programmes related to Independence day on 26 March to celebrate the day.

With solemn respect and honour the 95th Birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children Day was observed at KUET. Bangladesh needs concerted efforts to change society’s outlook on women, participants say at an International Women’s Day function of KUET Rokeya Hall. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the event at the university’s Rokeya Hall on 8 March at 7 pm. A discussion was also held as part of the programme. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir and his wife Meherunnesa Lota, Md Mostafa Kamal, DC of Khulna District, Dean of Faculty of EEE Prof. Dr. Md. Nurunnabi Mollah, Provost of Rokeya hall (in-charge) Shuheli Shaila Ahmed, Assistant Provost of Rokeya Hall Monika Gope and Mehnuma Tabassum Omar took part in the discussion.
