Sadi Md. Shahriar grew up in Khulna city, Bangladesh. After completing SSC from Khulna Zilla School in 2007, he went on to complete his HSC from Notre Dame College, Dhaka in 2009. Because of his penchant for science and technology, he got himself admitted into Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He graduated with Honors in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (MME) from BUET. His undergraduate thesis topic was “Electrodeposition of p-type cuprous oxide thin film for solar application”. He received Dean’s List Award in all four years of undergraduate studies. After a few months of graduation from BUET, he started working as Research Support Manager in a sub-project under Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP). This sub-project focused on facility development and research of High-Temperature Deformation of Steel and Magnesium and Aluminum-based Light Alloys. Besides handling managerial duties, he investigated the effects of minor cerium addition on high temperature mechanical properties of hot-rolled AZ31 magnesium alloy. In February, 2017, he started working as a Lecturer in Department of Materials Science and Engineering, KUET. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in December, 2020. His research interest lies in nanostructured materials and thin films. He is currently on leave to pursue his PhD at the University of California, Davis in the USA. His PhD research entails the study of morphology evolution in nanoporous gold thin films.
