Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14, 2022 by paying respect to the country's most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in an effort to rid the country of its intelligentsia just two days before the final victory in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971.
KUET took elaborate programs to observe the day in a befitting manner. Black flags were hoisted and the national flag flew at half-mast atop all important buildings at early in the morning. Later at 10:30 am. teachers, officers, students and employees gathered and brought out a procession led by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder.
To mark the day a discussion meeting was held at the auditorium on 14 December 2022 at 11 am. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder was present as the Chief Guest while Director (Students' Welfare) Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Motin was presided over the event. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia, Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Dean of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Shahjahan, Dean (In-Charge) of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Prof. Dr. A. N. M. Mizanur Rahman participated in the discussion as Special Guest.
Among others, President of Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Md. Helal-An-Nahiyan, General Secretary Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Hasib, Director (R&E) Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Shikder, Head of Urban and Regional Planning Department Prof. Dr. Md. Mustafa Saroar, Vice- President of Inter: University Officers Fedaration Engr. Hossain Mohammad Arshad, Assistant General Secretary of Officers Association Engr. Md. Rumen Rayhan, President of Karmokarta Samity Sm. Shazzad Hosain, President of Employees Association Md. Imdadul Haque, President of Master-roll Karmochary Samity Md. Shamim Reza took part in the discussion. Assistant Director, Public Relations & Information, Monoj Kumar Majumder represented the discussion meeting program.
After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation's illustrious sons. Procession of candle light also held at the evening.
