Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed the Martyred Intellectuals Day to commemorate those intellectuals who were assassinated deliberately by the Pakistan occupation forces and their local collaborators at the fag-end of the country’s Liberation War in 1971. To mark the day, a discussion meeting (Online) was held on 14 December 2019 at 11.30 am. Honorable Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain was the Chief Guest while Acting Director (Students’ Welfare) Dr. Ismail Saifullah was presided over the event.

Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf; Dean of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. K. M. Azharul Hasan; Dean of Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ariful Islam; President of the Teachers’ Association, Prof. Dr. Pallab Kimar Choudhury; Registrar, G M Shahidul Alam were present as the Special Guests. Director, Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmad; Head of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Prof. Dr. Md. Mustafa Saroar; Director (Planning & Development), Prof. Dr. Kazi A B M Mohiuddin; Provost of Dr. M A Rashid Hall, Prof. Dr. Sajal Kumar Adhikary, General Secretary of Officers Association, Md. Akkas Ali; President of Karmokarta Samity (Up-gradation), G M Moniruzzaman; President of Karmachari Samity (3rd Class) Md. Mamunur Rashid Jewel took part in the discussion meeting. The event was represented by the Public Relations Officer, Monoj Kumar Majumder.

On 14 December, black-flag was hoisted at early in the morning atop all main buildings of the university. At 10:30 am, a Mourning Rally was held by the teachers, officers, staffs and students of KUET, which was led by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain. After Asr prayer, a Doa-Mahfil was held at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation's bravest and intellectual sons. At 06:30 pm, a drama was staged on the Online Platform by the students.
