  • KUET Celebrated Shaheed Dibash & International Mother Language Day

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the Shaheed Dibash & International Mother Language Day on February 21, 2012 Tuesday by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons of this soils who laid down their lives sixty years ago to safeguard the glory of their mother tongue, Bangla.

    Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was first to place wreaths at the KUET Central Shaheed Minar at 21 February, 00:01 am. on behalf of the University. Later, KUET Teachers Association, Director (Students’ Welfare), Provosts of different Hall, KUET Officers Association, KUET Kormochari Samity & other student organizations of KUET placed wreaths.

    The authorities of KUET took elaborated programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner. Black flags were hoisted and the national flag flew at half-mast atop all important buildings including the Vice-Chancellor’s office at 6:00 a.m. Later at 9:30 a.m. a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir awarded prizes among the winners as the Chief Guest. A discussion meeting jointly organized by the University authority and Teacher Association was held at the university auditorium at 11:00 a.m. with president of Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mashud in the chair. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present in the discussion meeting as the Chief Guest and delivered speech there. Among others Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty (in-charge) Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Head of Industrial Engineering & Management Department Azizur Rahman, Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department Dr. Naseem Ahmed, Registrar Md. Abdur Rouf, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering Department Md. Ataur Rahman, Urban & Regional Planning Department Tusher Kanti Ray, President of Officers Association G M Shahidul Alam and among staff Sk. Toyebur Rahman, Md. Khokon Mollah, Md. Rabiul Islam spoke in the meeting. The speakers imbued with the spirit of patriotism, many demanded introduction of Bangla at all levels, enforce correct use of Bangla and quick disposal of war crimes trial. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation’s bravest sons. KUET Teachers Association also brought out different programmes related to Shaheed Dibash & International Mother Language Day on 21 February to celebrate the day.
