Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed the Martyred Intellectuals Day to commemorate those intellectuals who were assassinated deliberately by the Pakistan occupation forces and their local collaborators at the fag-end of the country’s Liberation War in 1971. To mark the day, a discussion meeting was held at the Student Welfare Center (SWC) on 14 December 2019 at 11 am. Honorable Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain was present as the Chief Guest while Acting Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Pintu Chandra Shill was presided over the event. Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf; Acting Dean of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shaifur Rahman; Dean of Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ariful Islam were present as the Special Guests.
Registrar, G M Shahidul Alam; Director (Planning & Development), Prof. Dr. Kazi A B M Mohiuddin; Prof. Dr. Md. Rafizul Islam; President of Officers Association, Engr. Md. Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan; President of Karmokarta Samity (Up-gradation), G M Moniruzzaman; General Secretary of Karmochary Samity (3rd Class), Md. Imrul Islam; General Secretary of Karmachary Samity (4th Class), Md. Habibur Rahman took part in the discussion meeting. The event was represented by the Public Relations Officer, Monoj Kumar Majumder.
On 14 December, black-flag was hoisted at early in the morning atop all main buildings of the university. At 10:30 am, a Mourning Rally was held by the teachers, officers, staffs and students of KUET, which was led by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain. After Asr prayer, a Doa-Mahfil was held at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation’s bravest and intellectual sons.
In the evening, a Candle Light Procession was also held in the campus with the participation of teachers, officers, staffs and students of KUET. At 06:30 pm, a drama was staged on the “Muktomoncho” of Student Welfare Center (SWC) by the students.
