World Habitat Day observed at KUET on 25 October, 2017 with the idea to reflect on the state of towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter and also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility towards the future of the human habitat. This year’s theme for the day is “Housing Policies: Affordable Homes” to promote sustainable development policies that ensure adequate shelter for all. Marking the day, a rally was started at 10:00 am in front of administrative building and paraded whole campus lead by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. After the end of rally a discussion meeting was held at the Students Welfare Center in Campus. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, In his speech as chief guest said, housing is a basic right of human and the government is working to ensure secure houses for all citizens. Along with the government, the role of private investors is also very important in providing safe, afforded for people, he said. Head of URP Department Prof.Dr. Md. Mustafa Saroar, Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia, President of BIP Khulna Chapter Prof. Dr. Ashraful Alam, Lecturer of Architecture Department of KUET Md. Rayhan Khan, Urban Manager of Oxfam GB Anisur Rahman Chowdhuri, Director (Program) of Jagoroni Chakra Foundation Md Hasan Arif were delivered speech in the discussion meeting. In the discussion meeting welcome address delivered by the Assistant Prof. of URP department of KUET Md. Esraz-Ul-Zannat and Key note paper presented by the Assistant Prof. of URP department of KUET and also secretary of BIP Khulna chapter Tusar Kanti Roy.
