In SARDINIA 2011, the 13th International Landfill and Waste Management Symposium, 3-7 October 2011, Cagliari, Italy, the Paper presented by Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was merited and hence awarded as the best paper in the category of landfill. The paper entitled as "Evaluation of contamination potential of sanitary landfill lysimeter using leachate pollution index" was the research works conducted at KUET in the Lysimeter Test Set-up at the premises of Civil Engineering Department during the last 4 years. Other authors of the paper are I.M. Rafizul and M.M. Islam. On the last day of the symposium, during the Gala Dinner and the Clossure, the award was declared by the Chairman of the Conference, Prof. Rainer Stegmann as decided by an independent Jury Board, and hence handed over to Prof. Alamgir. Prof. Cossu was also present in the ceremony. More than 800 papers were published in the conference, while 750 people from 63 countries were attended in this famous conference of world on waste management .
