National Mourning Day was observed with due solemnity, marking the 41th anniversary of assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Marking the day a Discussion Meeting was held at KUET Auditorium on August 14 at 3:30 pm. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest while President of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, Khulna Dr. Shekh Baharul Alam was present as the Chief Speaker. Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering , Prof. Dr. Tarapada Bhowmick, Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering were present as the Special Guest. Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia, Director (Students’ Welfare) presided over the Discussion Meeting. Among Others head of the Department of URP Prof. Dr. Md. Mustafa Saroar, President of Officers Association G.M. Shahidul Alam, among the student and President of KUET Chattra Leage Safayet Hossain Nayon, GS Ali Imtiaz Sohan, President of 3rd class employee Association Md. Mamunur Rashid Jewel spoke on the occasion. Other faculty members, officers, employees and students were present at that time.
On august 15, Early in the morning the national flag was flown at half-mast and black flag was flown at the administrative building, vice-chancellor’s residential building and all the residential halls of student. At 9:00 a.m. a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. Vice-Chancellor distributed the prize among the winners of drawing competition.
At 10:30 a.m. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the portrait of the great leader in front of Central Shaheed Miner on behalf of the University. Later, Teachers Association, Director (Students’ Welfare), Fazlul Haque Hall, Lalan Shah Hall, Khanjahan Ali Hall, Dr. M A Rashid Hall, Rokeya Hall, Amar Ekushy Hall, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, Officers Association, KUET Chattra Leage, 3rd class employee Association, 4th class employee Association, Master Roll Employee Association, Bangabandhu Karmachary Somiti, Khulna Engineering University School placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
At 11:30 a.m. Teachers Association also arrange a Discussion Meeting. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest while Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, President of Teachers Association presided over the Discussion Meeting.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, Officers Association, KUET Cattra League, were also organise various programmes. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed soul of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
On august 12 At 6.00 p.m. KUET Chattra Leage also arrange a Discussion Meeting. Begum Monnujan Sufian M.P. (Khulna-3) was present as the Chief Guest while Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, President of Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Asstt. Director (Students’ Welfare) Md. Osman Goni Nayeem were present as the Special Guest. President of KUET Chattra Leage Safayet Hossain Nayon presided over & GS Ali Imtiaz Sohan conduct the Discussion Meeting.
