A three days long 3rd international conference on Civil Engineering for Sustainable Development (ICCESD-2016) held at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on 12-14 February. The conference has been organised by Dept. of Civil Engineering, KUET in co-operation with Kalindi Rail Engineers Limited, Seven Rings Cement and Max Group with the aim to exchange views and experiences at national level and find out probable solutions for meeting the demand of concept as a whole. Member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) Abdul Jabbar Khan inaugurated the conference as chief guest in the 12 February morning. Vice-chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir presided over the inaugural session.
Chairman of Mongla Port Authority Rear Admiral Riyazuddin Ahmed and Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Railway Engineer Md Amzad Hossain were present as special guests. Chairman of the conference organizing committee Prof Dr Md Keramat Ali Molla of KUET delivered welcome address and Conference Secretary Prof Dr Abu Zakir Morshed delivered vote of thanks.
Scientists, engineers, researchers and scholars from different universities, deans of different faculties of KUET, departmental heads and directors participated in the conference. In their speech all the guest and experts hoped that the conference would be able to share knowledge and experiences to develop new ideas about proper utilize of Civil Engineering facilities through use of new technologies.
In the Conference 21 Technical sessions in which 159 Research papers were presented. They submitted their scientific contributions in the conference and with the interaction of those scholars the Conference got into an impressive value for sustainable development. On 13 February, the closing ceremony of the three days long International Conference at a local hotel was held followed by Conference Dinner. KUET VC Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the chief Guest, while the representatives the conference sponsors and other guests of the conference attended.
