National Mourning Day was observed with due solemnity, marking the 40th anniversary of assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Marking the day a Discussion Meeting was held at KUET Auditorium on August 13 at 3:00 pm. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering , Prof. Dr. A.N.M.Mizanur Rahman, Dean (Acting), Faculty of Mechanical Engineering were present as the Special Guest. Dr. G.G.Md. Nawaz Ali, In-Charge Director (Students’ Welfare) presided over the Discussion Meeting. Among Others Provost of BSMR Hall Dr. Sobahan Mia, Provost (In-Charge) of Rokeya Hall Shuheli Shaila Ahmed, Head of the Department of URP Tusar Kanti Roy, Assistant Director of DSW Md. Osman Goni Nayeem, Assistant Professor of ME Department Md. Helal-An-Nahiyan, among the student and President of KUET Chattra Leage Safayet Hossain Nayon, GS Ali Imtiaz Sohan, Md. Hasan Tarek, Tariqul Islam Oyon, Md. Mozammel Hossain, Md. Arifuzzaman, Md. Soikat Hossain, Sarif Ahad, Susmita Gosh, President of Officers Association Md. Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan, GS Hossain Mohammad Arshad, President of 3rd class employee Association Md. Mamunur Rashid Jewel, General Secretary of Bangabandhu Karmachary Parishad Md. Rabiul Islam Shohag spoke on the occasion. Other faculty members, officers, employees and students were present at that time.
On august 15, Early in the morning the national flag was flown at half-mast and black flag was flown at the administrative building, vice-chancellor’s residential building and all the residential halls of student. At 9:00 a.m. a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. Vice-Chancellor distributed the prize among the winners of drawing competition. At 10:30 a.m. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the portrait of the great leader in front of Central Shaheed Miner on behalf of the University. Later, Director (Students’ Welfare), Fazlul Haque Hall, Lalan Shah Hall, Khanjahan Ali Hall, Dr. M A Rashid Hall, Rokeya Hall, Amar Ekushy Hall, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, KUET Chattra Leage, Officers Association, Bangabandhu Karmachary Somiti, 3rd class employee Association, Master Roll Employee Association placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later a mourn rally paraded the campus to marking the day led by the Vice-Chancellor. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed soul of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Teachers Association, Officers Association, KUET Cattra League, Bangabandhu Karmachary Parishad were also organise various programmes, including discussions, morn rally and distribution of cooked food among the destitute.
Teachers and student of Khulna Engineering University School, Unmesh Govt. Primary School brought out a mourn Rally led by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET. after the morn rally they placed floral wreath at the portrait of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Central Shaheed Miner.
After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque.
