World Environment Day was celebrated at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) amid colorful programme. The Programme was initiated by the Civil Engineering and URP department of the University. At 11:00 a.m. teachers, students, officers, employees, members of different environment based organization gathered and brought out a rally from the administrative building and paraded the whole campus and ended in front of the Civil Engineering building led by the VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. After rally, Dr. Alamgir and The members of the organization planted three types of seedling besides the Civil Engineering Building.

Later, An intellectual seminar was organized entitled “Green Economy, Environment and Sustainable Development: Prospects in Global Context” as a part of celebration the World Environment Day. Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain, Head, Department of URP delivered welcome address. Tushar Kanti Ray, Assistant Professor of URP department of KUET Presented the main Paper of the seminar headed “Green Economy, Environment and Sustainable Development: Prospects in Global Context”. VC of KUET Dr. Alamgir was present there as the Chief Guest and delivered his valuable speech. Prof. Dr. Bazlar Rahman, Dean, CE Faculty, Sheik Abdul Kayum, Chairperson, Nagorik Foram, Khulna, Mostofa Nuruzzaman, Director, Sushilon, Shatkhira addressed as the Special Guests. Prof. Dr. Kh. Md. Shafiul Islam, Head, Departmen of Civil Engineering presided over the seminar and made the closing remarks. The main purpose of the seminar was to create awareness on current and future issues on environment and how business organizations are changing based on best environmental policies, laws and regulations.
