Khulna University of Engineering & Technology

Md. Shofiqul Islam is currently working as an assistant professor at the Institute of Disaster Management, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology. Prior to joining this university, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, North Western University. He received his Master of Science in Civil Engineering (2017) with a focus on environmental engineering and his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (2013) with a focus on geo-environmental engineering from the same university. In his MSc research, he worked with the IWM model for life cycle assessment to find out the different emissions like GHGs, acid gases, etc. of the Solid Waste Management System (SWMS) of Khulna City Corporation and simulate a sustainable SWMS. His research interests include environmental risk assessment, disaster preparedness planning, and climate change impacts on water resources. Currently, he is working on finding a nature-based solution for shoreface nourishment by implementing submerged artificial sandbars both in the laboratory and through numerical modeling with XBeach and Delft3D model under coastal engineering laboratory (http://www.cvg.ynu.ac.jp/G2/index_e.html), Yokohama National University, Japan.
