The role of unmanned aerial vehicle is not limited to battlefields. But it is more diversified nowadays. The UAVs can perform several functions: surveillance, information gathering, data storage and their transmission to the ground stations, including the function of interference, when needed. So there is an urgent need for extensive research on flight control and dynamics. Mr. Islam’s expertise is in the general area of aerospace control and dynamics involving aircraft dynamics, flight planning, flight control and autonomous flight; dynamics and control of attitude systems; astrodynamics; guidance, navigation and associated flight systems; flexible aerospace vehicles; and acoustics and flow control. Currently Mr Islam is working with aerial robotics. For this, feasibility test have been carried out for building a small size fixed wing aircraft, a multi-rotor aircraft and a fixed-pitch-single-rotor spherical flying object using locally available and easily obtainable materials. . So far manual control with no stabilization aid was used for testing of the mentioned three types of aircraft. Computer aided stabilization and automation is being implemented right now for future testing. Earlier Mr. Islam have carried out some project on flow separation control and drag reduction.
