A day long national workshop on “Application of Mathematics in Different Fields” was held at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) on 20 December, 2019. The workshop was organized by the Department of Mathematics, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) in collaboration with Bangladesh Mathematical Society (MBS).

In the absence of Honorable Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain, Honorable UGC professor, Prof. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, University of Dhaka inaugurated the workshop as the Chief Guest on 20 December at 18.30 am at Distance Learning Theater (DLT) of KUET. Honorable Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf and Convener, Seminar and Workshop Committee, Bangladesh Mathematical Society (BMS), Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraf Uddin, Dept. of Mathematics SUST delivered their speeches as Special Guests. In the absence of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Arif Hossain, Program coordinator, Prof. Dr. Md . Bazlar Rahman, Dept of Mathematics, KUET delivered welcome speech in the inaugural session. Prof. Dr. Md. Zaidur Rahman presided over the inaugural session. The Inaugural session as well as Technical session was performed under overall supervision by the Secretary of the workshop organizing committee and the member of BMS workshop committee Prof. Dr. A R M Jalal Uddin Jamali, Department of Mathematic, KUET, Khulna.

There are six technical papers, in different fields of applications of mathematics, were presented in the day long workshop. The technical paper “Application of Calculus, Differential equation and Fourier series” was presented by Prof. Dr. B. M. Ikramul Haque, Dept. of Mathematics, KUET, Khulna. Dr. A. B. M. Shahadat Hossain , Assoc. Prof., Dept of Applied Mathematics, University of Dhaka, discussed about “Mathematics in Finance”. Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akbar, Dept of Applied Mathematics, Rajshahi University, delivered his nice talk on “Fractional Differential Equations”. The technical topics on “Computational Fluid Dynamics” was presented by Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraf Uddin, Dept of Mathematics Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. The nice research discussion on “Fluid Dynamics” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain (formal UGC Professor), Dept of Mathematics, University of Dhaka. Prof. Dr. A. R. M. Jalal Uddin Jamali presented his talk on “Application of Matrices”.

The closing ceremony of the workshop was held at 4.30 on 20 December. The certificates and crests are given to the participants and resource persons. Total number of participants who came from 20 Post-graduate level Institutes all over the country ware around 80. The Secretary of the workshop Prof. Dr. A R M Jalal Uddin Jamali delivered his vote of thanks at the closing ceremony.
