  • Architectural Design Concept of Student Welfare Center has opened for comments:

  • The architectural design concept for the construction of a modern Student Welfare Center at KUET campus has been prepared by the Architect Shajib based on the requirements given by the KUET authority. The draft was consulted with the members of this project in presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. After correction of initial concept design an open presentation has been given at the Conference Room at 11:30AM on 7th, presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, where the Deans, Directors, Head of the Departments, Teachers and high officials were invited. After long discussion the design concept has been approved as a first step to prepare the final architectural design. However, it was decided to keep the concept design in the KUET website for receiving the comments.

  • Inauguration of the Construction Works of “Guest House cum Club Building” at KUET

  • On February 02, 2012, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, VC of KUET, inaugurates the construction works of the Guest House cum Club Building alongside the Dormitory building at KUET premises. At this simple foundation-stone laying ceremony, in a short speech, he says that after completion of the building the guests who come to KUET can stay in a comfortable accommodation & various club activities can be held here smoothly. He also mentioned that with the start of this construction works, a long desire of the KUET family gets into right shape. Right on the spots he directed the contractor, engineers and other relevant person to do everything to ensure better construction & timely completion of the project. Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Bashar, Director (Planning & Development), Chief Engineer (in-charge) A B M Mamunur Rashid spoke on the occasion. Later, a doa-mahfil was also held for the successful completion of the building. Faculty Dean, Departmental Head, Registrar, Teachers, Section Heads, Officers and employees of KUET were present at this program.



     


     




  • Financial aid for the critically sick KUET student

  • On January 31, 2012, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, VC of KUET, handed over a cheque of Taka Thirty Thousand to Dipak Kumar Barman, a critically ill 4th year student of Civil Engineering Department at the office of the Vice-Chancellor. The donation was provided from the Matiur Smrity Fund of KUET. Among others, Prof. Dr. Md. Bazlar Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering & The Chairman of Matiur Smrity Fund, Prof. Dr. Kh. Md. Shafiul Islam, Head of the Dept. of Civil Engineering, Dr. M. Harunur Rashid, Deputy DSW and Md. Alauddin Akanda, Comptroller were also present during the event. Dipak, son of Mr. Bipod Chandra Barman from Gobindagonj, Gaibandha, has been suffering from various critical mental diseases for long time.





  • Construction Main Gate Complex is in final stage

  • The Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inspected the ongoing construction of Main Gate Complex on January 30 at 12.00 pm. Chief Engineer (in charge) A B M Mamunur Rashid, Executive Engineer (in charge) Md. Ikramul Haque, Assistant Engineers Aslam Parvez and Ershad and other officials of KUET accompanied him. Right on the spots he observed the progress of the ongoing construction works of Main Gate, which is now in the final stage. He directed the contractors and others related to do everything required to complete the construction works as early as possible. He also made some on-spot decisions for the better construction & timely completion of the project.

  • The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inspected the ongoing construction of the renovation works of Lalan Shah Hall on January 29 at 12.00 am. Chief Engineer (in charge) A B M Mamunur Rashid, Assistant Professor Department of Civil Engineering Md. Ataur Rahman, Assistant Engineer Md. Aslam Parvez and other officials of KUET accompanied him. Right on the spots he observed the progress of the construction works going on and directed the contractors and others related to do everything required to complete the construction works as early as possible so that the students can be shifted to their room at the earliest. He also made some on-spot decision for the better construction & timely completion of the project.












  • Prof. Alamgir visited the Saraswati Puja Mandap

  • On 28 January 2012, Saturday, Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, VC of KUET visited some Educational Institutes of Khulna City to observed the celebration of Saraswati Puja by students, teachers, employees and the other devotees. He visited Khulna University, Khulna Medical College, Govt. B.L. College and Govt. Laboratory High School. Head of The Institutes and the students welcomed him and guided to visit the Puja Mandap in the respective institute. He exchanged greetings with the devotees and spend sometimes with them. He also accompanied by Prof. Dr. Kh. Md. Shafiul Islam, Mr. Sajal Kumar Adhikary, Assistant Professor and Nepa Debnath, Lecturer. In a speech at Khulna University, he hoped that the students will uphold the inner message of the Goddess Saraswati to develop the inside of their mind, which will lead them to work hard for the development of better Bangladesh.

  • Meeting of KUET Environment Development Committee held on January 12

  • An important meeting of the Environment Development Committee of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) was held at 3:00 p.m. on January 12 at the University Conference Room. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir presided over the meeting.


    In the meeting a long discussion about the undesirable and unacceptable incidents occurred recently on 1st & 2nd January 2012, prevailing situation the campus outside and also about the upcoming 2nd convocation was held. The speakers spontaneously discussed about the University's surrounding environmental matters and removal of illegal infrastructure  from the KUET road side due to the upcoming 2nd convocation of KUET.


    The speakers also expressed their deep concern and requested the authority to open the university as soon as possible. Earlier they also demanded the proper punishment of those who are found guilty by the formed inquiry committee for the entive unprecedented  incidents.  The speakers also assured to give all possible assistance to maintain peaceful environment surrounding the KUET Campus for holding the upcoming convocation successfully. They also assured that they will give all sorts of support to the KUET Authority's initiatives for the eviction of all illegal structures along the road side.    Dean of the faculty of Civil Engineering Prof. Dr. Md.   • Architectural Design of KUET Medical Center has opened for comments:

  • The architectural design for the construction of a modern KUET Medical Center at the campus has been prepared by the Architect Shajib based on the requirements given by the KUET authority. The draft was consulted two times with the members of the Medical Development Committee in presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. After finalization, the design of this three storied building with the necessary facilities were unfolded in an open presentation at the Conference Room at 3:00PM on 10th January, presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, where the Deans, Directors, Head of the Departments, Members of the medical development committee and the high officials were invited. After long discussion the design has been approved incorporating the suggested modifications. However, it was decided to keep the design in the KUET website for receiving the comments.

  • Annual Dinner and Prize distribution were held at Khan Jahan Ali Hall

  • The students of the Khan Jahan Ali Hall of KUET, enjoyed Annual Dinner on 30th December 2011 arranged at the Green Lawn at the Back Yard of the Hall with great enjoyment and the participation. Honb’le Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir graced both the occasion as the Chief Guest. Director (IICT), Director (P&D), Director (Students Welfare), Provosts and Assistant provost from other Halls and the teachers from different departments were also enjoyed the events. Khan Jahan Hall Provost & the Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Md. Bazlar Rahman presided over the event. The students of the hall provided warm reception to the guests with flowers. In this annual dinner, the names were declared and the prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest to the students of the 4 Rooms, whose rooms were selected as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions for the best cleanliness. This new idea will encourage the hall students about the development of a clean, hygiene and habitable hall. The dinner was enjoyed by the all students and the guests.





  • Annual Dinner and Fresher’s Reception were held at Rokeya Hall

  • The students of the Rokeya of KUET, enjoyed Annual Dinner on 29th December 2011 and celebrated the Fresher’s Reception of `10 Batch on 30th December, 2011 at the Hall Lawn with great enjoyment and the participation. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir graced both the occasion as the Chief Guest. Director (Students Welfare), Head of the department of Mechanical Engineering, Head of the department of Leather Engineering were present as the special guests, while the Provost and Assistant provost from other Halls and the teachers from different department enjoyed the events. Rokeya Hall Provost (in-charge) Mrs. Shuheli Shaila Ahmed chaired both the feast and Freshers reception. The hall students have a warm reception to the invited guests i.e. teachers with fresh flowers and a token gift. During the dinner, the students also served the food to their respectable teachers. At the Freshers’ Reception ceremony fresh students of Rokeya hall were received with flower. Among others the students of the hall, other related staffs were present there. After the reception, a cultural show organized and played by the hall students were presented, which were enjoyed by the all students and the guests.













  • KUET Celebrated Victory Day

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the Victory Day on December 16, 2011 Friday by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971.


    Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, placed floral wreaths on Gollamary Memorial Monument at 15 December, 12:01 am. on behalf of the University. Later, Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, KUET Teachers Association, Provosts of different Hall, KUET Officers Association, KUET Kormochari Samity, KUET Kormochary Leage & other organizations of KUET placed floral wreath at the memorial.


    The authorities of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) took elaborate programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner. The national flag flew in front of all important buildings including the Vice-Chancellor’s office at 6:30 a.m. Later at 9:30 a.m. a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KUET Dr. Muhammed Alamgir awarded prizes among the winners as the Chief Guest. A charity cricket match between Officers and Staff of KUET played at the play ground at 3:00 pm. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation’s bravest sons. Cultural programmes related to Victory Day also held at the in front of auditorium at 7:00 p.m.


    KUET Teachers Association also brought out different programmes related to Victory Day on 16 December to celebrate the day.


















  • KUET paid homage to the martyred Intellectuals

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed Martyred Intellectuals Day on  December 14, 2011 Wednesday by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in an effort to rid the country of its intelligentsia just two days before the final victory in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971.


    The authorities of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) took elaborate programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner. Black flags were hoisted and the national flag flew at half-mast atop all important buildings including the Vice-Chancellor’s office at 6:30 a.m. Later at 10 a.m. teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession led by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. At 11: 00 a.m. a discussion meeting was also held at the university auditorium with Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder in the chair. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present there as the Chief Guest. Among others Director (IICT) Prof. Dr. Md. Keramat Ali Molla, Director (Research & Extension) Prof. Dr. Tarapada Bhowmick, Head Of Leather Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Md. Syed Ali Molla, Head Of IEM Department Azizur Rahman, lecturer of  Leather Engineering Department Md. Masum, Deputy Registrar G M Shahidul Alam and among staff  Sk. Toyebur Rahman, Maksudul Islam Pathan Md. Rabiul Islam spoke in the meeting. The speakers called for an early trial of the war criminals and the killers of the intellectuals.


    After the meeting Hon’ble VC signed on a mass signature program, arranged By KUET Chatra League demanding the early trial of the war criminals & criminals against humanity of 1971 war. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation’s illustrious sons. Procession of candle light, cultural programmes related to Intellectuals Day and a drama “Lashghar” played by KUET theatre were also held at the auditorium at 7:00  p.m.


    KUET Teachers Association also brought out a procession and a discussion meeting on 14 December to pay homage to the martyred Intellectuals.

  • 2nd Inter-Hall Cultural Festival of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) started at University auditorium on December 13, 2011. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the program as the Chief Guest. Among others Director (Student’s Welfare) Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, a huge number of students, teachers, officers and employees of KUET were also present on the occasion.

  • Result of KUET Admission Test published

  • Khulna University of Engineering Technology (KUET) 1st year B. Sc. Engineering & Bachelor of Urban & Regional Planning (BURP) admission test result has been published before due date on October 31 at noon which was supposed to be on November 2. The concerned teachers and officers of KUET worked very hard to do the job in possible earliest time considering the applicants admission test in other universities of the country. In the notice boards and website (www.kuet.ac.bd) of the university 1st year B. Sc. & BURP Admission Test results are available now. Honb’le Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir thanked everybody related to the admission test, specially the Chairman of Admission Test, Prof Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam for their contribution and hard work in this regard. It is to mention that 4691 applicants took part in the admission test for 665 seats. The related formalities of the admission will start on 4th December 2011 at 9:00 am at KUET Auditorium. The possible date of orientation class start is declared as 16 February 2012.   • 1st year B. Sc. Engineering & BURP Admission Test held at KUET

  • Admission Test for first year B. Sc. Engineering & Bachelor of Urban & Regional Planning (BURP) courses for 2011-12 session of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) was held peacefully on 29 October 2011 Saturday. The examination was held at KUET, near- by Teachers Training College (TTC), Higher Secondary Teachers Training Institute (HSTTI) and Laboratory High School premises.
    Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir alongwith Prof. Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Chairman of the Admission Committee visited the examination halls. A total of 4691 candidates appeared at the Admission Test under eight Departments for 665 seats this session of 2011-2012.





  • School Uniform Distributed among the KUET Primary School Students

  • As the Chief Guest of the occasion, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir distributed school uniform among KUET Unmesh Primary School students on 26 October Monday at 11:30 am at free of cost. In his speech, Prof. Alamgir urged the students to study hard because the fortune of  Bangladesh depends on their success. He also requested the rich people of the society to come forward to contribute in the education sector of the country since government alone can’t handle these huge responsibilities. Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf, Chairman of the concerned School Committee chaired the programme. Prof. Dr. Md. Syed Ali Molla Head of Leather Engineering Department, Prof Dr. Kh. Md. Shafiul Islam, Director (CRTS), Mr. Ashok Kumar Somaddar (DPEO), Mr. Sheikh Ohidul Alam (ADPEO) were present as the Special Guests. The school uniform was distributed among the 41 poor & meritorious students of the school. Prof. Dr. Alamgir, Ms. Meherunnesa Lata (wife of the Hon’ble VC), Prof. Dr. Syed Ali Molla, Prof Dr. Kh. Md. Shafiul Islam, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf donated the fund to prepare the uniforms. Among others the Headmaster of the school was also present at the occasion.  





  • Condolence Meeting for Bayezid held

  • A condolence meeting for S M Bayezid, a student of civil Engineering Department was held at the university auditorium at 5:30 pm on October 23. Bayezid who passed away on August 21, 2011 after suffering from Brain Cancer and other complicating diseses for a year long, was a meritorious student of Civil Engineering Department.
    The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KUET was present there as the Chief Guest and delivered speech there. Professor of Civil Engineering Department & Director (CRTS) Dr. Kh. Md. Shafiul Islam chaired the programme. Head of the Department of Physics & Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering Department Dr. Md. Shahjahan Ali, Assistant Professor Sajal Kumar Adhikary were present as the Special Guests. Bayezid’s friends from 2K9 Batch narrated the life sketch of Bayezid and their memories which created a shocking wave at the auditorium. Senior and junior students from other batches also shared their sweet and sorrowful memories with Bayezid. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, others guests & students expressed their deep shock at the early death of Bayezid. Milad-Mahfil was also held the same venue just after the condolence meeting to pray for the departed soul.





  • Prof. Alamgir visited Padova University

  • After Sardinia 2011 International Conference, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, the Vice-Chancellor of KUET, visited Padova University, Italy to see various research and other facilities at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Raffaello Cossu. It is one of the oldest universities of the world founded in 1222 and graced by the great philosopher and scientist Galileo Galilei and Nicolaus Copernicus. During this day long visit Prof. Alamgir visited the various research ongoing research activities on waste management and environmental issues. He also discussed the bilateral issues with the counterpart and visited the administrative and other facilities. This visit will bring two universities into more future collaboration which was established in 2009 just after the visit of Prof..Cossu at KUET.
