Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Ex. Vice-Chancellor of KUET and Professor of the Civil Engineering Department, KUET is now in Padova University, Italy as a visiting professor for 17 days. He has left Bangladesh on last 8 October and will return on 25 October, 2018. This visit is supported by Erasmus+ KA107 Programme of European Union. During the visit, he already has delivered Lectures to the 2nd and 3rd year students of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, on the topic entitled “Environmental Challenges facing Bangladesh due to Climate Change and Rohingya Influx". He has also delivered Lectures to the Postgraduate students on "Sustainable Landfill Techniques and Faecal Sludge Treatment in the context of Bangladesh”. Besides this, he will also attend in the Venice 2018 'International Symposium on Energy from Biomass and Waste' to be held in Venice during 15 to 18 October 2018. In this symposium, he will chair a session on "Biomass to Energy in Developing Countries" and present a technical paper on "Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat Analysis of Solid Waste Management at KUET Campus". He will also attend the Editorial Board meeting IWWG and Working group meeting of a new Journal "Detritus". His host professor is Dr. Maria Cristina Lavagnolo of Padova University, Italy.

Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated its 15th founding anniversary and University Day 2018 on September 22, 2018 through a series of festive colorful programs. Member of Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof. Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali inaugurated the day-long program as the Chief Guest by hoisting the National Flag and releasing ballons and Pigeons; Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain presided over the function and hoisted the university flag. Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Chairman of University Day 2018 Celebration committee, Prof. Dr. Quazi Hamidul Bari delivered the welcome speech.

A grand rally was brought out by the students, teachers, officers and staffs. The rally paraded the University campus and Fulbarigate area with colourful banner, festoon and placards.

A discussion meeting was held in the Student Welfare Centre of KUET. The Chief Guest said that the technical education is very important for the sustainable development of Bangladesh and KUET is playing a pioneer role in this regard. Recalling the contribution of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the brave Freedom Fighters of Liberation War in 1971, the Chief Guest also said that Bangladesh is now a unique model of the world. In the discussion meeting, Vice-Chancellor of KUET said that this University is one of the best educational institutions in the country. The online application submission for the first year Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc Eng), Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURP) and Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) courses admission of 2018-19 academic session of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) started on 13 September 2018 (Thursday). Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain inaugurated the online application submission at KUET meeting room at 10 AM. A three days long "Inition 2018: National Mechanical Festival" was held at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) on 06-08 September 2018. National Mourning Day observed at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) with due solemnity, marking the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Marking the day on 15 August, 2018 early in the morning, the National Flag was flown at half-mast and black flag was flown at the administrative building, Vice-Chancellor’s residential building and all the residential halls of student.

At 9:00 AM, a drawing competition of children was held at the Student Welfare Center of KUET. Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain distributed the prize among the winners of Drawing Competition.

At 10:30 AM, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing the Floral wreaths at the portrait of the great leader at “Bangabandhu Square” on behalf of the University. After Asr prayer, a Milad Mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed soul of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members assassinated on 15 August, 1975.

Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) on 13 August, 2018 Monday. As per the KUET ordinance 2003 section 10(1), the Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and also the Chancellor of the university Md. Abdul Hamid appoints him for the tenure of four years. After joining on 13 August as the Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain placed floral wreaths at the portrait of the Bangabandhu at “Bangabandhu Square” to tribute Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later he placed floral wreaths at KUET Shaheed Minar commemorating the supreme sacrifices of the valiant sons of the soil who fought for establishing rights of our dearest mother tongue in 1952 and paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month long bloody Liberation War with Pakistan in 1971. KUET rolled out a red carpet after KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir leave the Vice-Chancellor office room at his last working day as a Vice-Chancellor on 02 august at 5 pm. KUET Students & Officials Standing in alignment with two sides scatter petals of flowers upon the Vice-Chancellor with clapping when he left the Vice-Chancellor Office. Expressing gratitude to the President, the Prime Minister, the Education Minister, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir said, “I tried my best to take this University the leadership in promoting technological developments and management of the nation by strengthening engineering, science & technological education and research. Now KUET has been at the forefront of education, research and nation-building, producing the best graduates in the country. As the Vice-Chancellor of KUET, I am honored to be at the helm of what is considered as one of the foremost universities in Bangladesh and I hope to lead through an outstanding period of progress and growth in quality education, research and overall teaching & learning environment of the campus. He also thanked to all the faculty members, Officials, Staffs, Students of KUET for cooperation him during the last eight years when he was being as the VC of this University. And now all together we made KUET as a Brand Name in Higher Education. On July 21, 2010, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was appointed as the Vice-chancellor of KUET by the Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and also the Chancellor of this University. After successfully completion of his four years duration as the Vice-Chancellor he was re-appointed 2nd term as the Vice-chancellor of KUET on 03 August 2014.
