National Mourning Day observed at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) with due solemnity, marking the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Marking the day on 15 August, 2018 early in the morning, the National Flag was flown at half-mast and black flag was flown at the administrative building, Vice-Chancellor’s residential building and all the residential halls of student.

At 9:00 AM, a drawing competition of children was held at the Student Welfare Center of KUET. Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain distributed the prize among the winners of Drawing Competition.

At 10:30 AM, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing the Floral wreaths at the portrait of the great leader at “Bangabandhu Square” on behalf of the University. Later, Teachers’ Association, Director (Students’ Welfare), Officers Association, Fazlul Haque Hall, Lalan Shah Hall, Khanjahan Ali Hall, Dr. M A Rashid Hall, Rokeya Hall, Amar Ekushy Hall, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, KUET Chhatra League, 3rd class employee Association, 4th class employee Association, Master Roll Employee Association, Bangabandhu Karmachary Parishad, Khulna Engineering University School and Unmesh Govt. Primary School placed the floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

At 11 AM, a Discussing Meeting was held at the Student Welfare Center. Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain was present as the Chief Guest. Former Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir; Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Quazi Hamidul Bari; Dean of Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmad; Dean of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder were present as Special Guests. Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia, Director (Students’ Welfare) presided over the Discussion Meeting and Public Relations Officer Monoj Kumar Majumder represented the event.

A Doa Mahfil was also arranged by the Bangabandhu Karmachary Parishad and 4th Class Employee Association of KUET.

After Asr prayer, a Milad Mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed soul of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members assassinated on 15 August, 1975.
