External Peer Review Team (EPRT) visit KUET for the evaluation of self-assessment activities of the Math Department of the University. The students of the Rokeya hall of KUET, celebrated Annual Dinner on 02 January 2018 at the Hall Lawn with great enjoyment and the participation. New year, new books for the students of class one to nine “Textbook Festival 2018” as a part of countrywide free textbooks distribution program held at the Schools of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) on 01 January at 10 am. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir distributed new free textbook among the students as the Chief Guest. In his speech, Prof. Alamgir urged the students to study hard because the fortune of Bangladesh depends on their success. He also thanked and expressed his gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh and related ministry for countrywide handed over new textbook to the students at the first day of new year. Training program of septic tank inspection held at KUET on 23 December, 2017. This training program was arranged by the Institute of Disaster Management (IDM) of KUET, supported with Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and SNV. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the training program as the chief guest. In the inaugural session Prof. Dr. Khondoker Mahbub Hassan, Dept. of CE, KUET was brief details about this training program in his speech. The training session was conducting by the Engr. The Technical Paper entitled as “Experimental Study on the Use of Co-Compost in Agriculture” by Shourav Saha (former UG student of Civil Engineering Department, KUET, Batch 2K12) and Muhammed Alamgir (Professor of Civil Engineering & Vice-Chancellor, KUET), obtained 7th IconSWM & Springer Excellence Award 2017. This prestigious award is given to total 20 papers in different categories from the 270 papers presented in the conference. The award was declared on 17th December during Valedictory Programme of 7thIconSWM 2017, held at the Auditorium of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Hyderabad, India.

The Vice-Chancellor of KUET and the Professor of Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Muhammed Alamgir attended the 7th IconSWM 2017 -7th International Conference on Solid Waste Management at Hyderabad, India, during the period of 13 to 17 December, 2017. During this period, Prof. Alamgir attended a bilateral scientific collaboration dialogue with the Scientists and Researchers on 13th December. On 14th December, he also took part in the core committee meeting to fix-up the various aspects of the conference including future prospects as the Vice-Chairman and International Scientific Committee Member of this Conference. Professor Alamgir delivered oral presentation of 2 technical papers on 15th and 16th December entitled as “Characterization of Essential Oil Extracted from a Kitchen Waste: Lemon Peel(by: R. Sarder and M. Alamgir)” and “Experimental Study on the Use of Co-Compost in Agriculture(by:S. Saha and M. Alamgir)”, respectively. He also chaired the Technical Session on 16th December entitled as “Biogas and Bio-methanation”. Prof. Alamgir also participated in a joint meeting of 21 experts from 15 countries chaired by Prof. SK Ghosh, the conference Chair in the evening of 16th December.

Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the Victory Day on December 16, 2017 by paying utmost respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971. KUET took elaborate programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner. On 16 December The national flag flew in front of all important buildings at early in the morning. drawing competition for children was held at the Student Welfare Center(SWC) of the university to mark the Victory Day held at 9 am. At 9:30 pm “Gonosongit” held at the Premises of Liberation sculpture “Durbar Bangla” at Campus. At 10 pm Dean of Mechanical Engineering Faculty and Acting Vice-Chancellor (Routine Work) of KUET Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder placed floral wreaths on Liberation Sculpture “Durbar Bangla” on behalf of the University. Later, KUET Teachers Association, Director (Students’ Welfare), KUET Officers Association, Khanjahan Ali Hall, Dr. M. A. Rashid Hall, A.K.Fazlul Haque Hall, Lalan Shah Hall, Rokeya Hall, Amar Ekushey Hall, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, KUET Chattra League, Staff Association(3rd Class) , Staff Association(4th Class) , Bangabandhu Karmachary Parishad, Cattra Front & Khulna Universitu High School placed floral wreath at the memorial. Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14, 2017 by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in an effort to rid the country of its intelligentsia just two days before the final victory in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971. The authorities of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) took elaborate programs to observe the day in a befitting manner. Black flags were hoisted and the national flag flew at half-mast atop all important buildings of the University with the rising of the Sun. At 10:30 a.m. teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession led by the Dean of Mechanical Engineering Faculty and Acting Vice-Chancellor (Routine Work) of KUET Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder. At 11 am a discussion meeting was also held at the SWC with Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia in the chair. Seminar on Rotary Scholarship held at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) on 10 December, 2017 at 3 pm at SWC in campus. KUET and Rotary District 3281, Bangladesh has jointly organized this seminar for Master’s in Leading Foreign Universities such as University of Bradford (UK), Intl. Christian University (Japan), Uppsala University (Sweden), University of Queensland (Australia) and also 3 months Certificate Program in University of Chulalonkorn (Thailand). Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir graced the events as Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia was present as special guest. Dr. Ishtiaque Zaman, Chief Advisor, Connect Consulting Limited, Dhaka, delivered key note speech to narrate all the aspects of the scholarship. Training Workshop On CNC Machines Operation held at 10-12 December at the seminar room of Mechanical Engineering Department of KUET. The event was organized by the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning Facilities in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (CP-6149) which is a Sub-Project of Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) under the University Grants Commission (UGC).
