  • KUET paid homage to the martyred Intellectuals

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14, 2017 by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in an effort to rid the country of its intelligentsia just two days before the final victory in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971. The authorities of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) took elaborate programs to observe the day in a befitting manner. Black flags were hoisted and the national flag flew at half-mast atop all important buildings of the University with the rising of the Sun. At 10:30 a.m. teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession led by the Dean of Mechanical Engineering Faculty and Acting Vice-Chancellor (Routine Work) of KUET Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder. At 11 am a discussion meeting was also held at the SWC with Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia in the chair. Dean of Mechanical Engineering Faculty and Acting Vice-Chancellor (Routine Work) of KUET Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder delivered speech as the Chief Guest. Dean of CE Faculty Prof. Dr. Quazi Hamidul Bari, Dean of EEE faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rafiq, President of Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder delivered their speech as Special Guest. Among others, Assistant Professor of BECM Department Md. Hamidul Islam, Director (CC) of Planning & Development Md. Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan, Secretary of Bangladesh Chattra League, KUET Sadman Nahiyan Sezan, President of KUET Karmochary Somity (3rd Class) Md. Mamunur Rashid Jewel spoke in the meeting. Public Relations Officer Monoj Kumar Majumder represented the discussion meeting. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation’s illustrious sons. Procession of candle light and a drama played by KUET theatre were also held at the evening.
