A team consisting of three students from Dept. of Urban and Regional Planning, KUET have become the champion in the Inter-University Poster Presentation Competition in “WRE Festival, 2017.” Two teams from Dept. of Civil Engineering, BUET were awarded as First and Second runner up. The competition was organized by the Water Resource Engineering Students Association (WRESA), Dept. of Water Resources Engineering, BUET on Water Management Issues held on April 22, 2017 at BUET.
The team member met the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir on May 2, 2017 at 1:30 pm at his Office. Vice-Chancellor congratulations them for their achievement as a representative of KUET and hope them university will provide all support to sustain their awarded project. On 22 April, 2017 at BUET, The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific, Former Professor and Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty, BUET, Awardee of Ekushey Padak 2017 Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury were present as the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Ainun Nishat, Professor, Emeritus of BRAC University, Water Resources and Climate Change specialist was an honorable guest of the event. About 80 groups from 50 Universities including BUET, KUET and so on participated in the competition.
There were several topics for the poster presentation. The KUET-URP team (The Directories of Oasis) presented a poster on Saline Water Intrusion in Coastal Areas of Bangladesh titled “Soil Salinity Detection and Land Use Zoning Using GIS and Remote Sensing Technique”.

With the theme of 'Let's have a dream', the Youth Summit-3 was held on 01 May Monday at the auditorium of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET). The summit was held with an objective to help the students learn lessons from the life sketches of successful people of the country. Centre for Developing Management Excellence (CDME) organised the programme in association with KUET, Rotary Clubs and other organisations. The Daily Observer, Bangla Daily Amader Samoy and TV channel DBC are the media partners of the event. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir addressed the summit as chief guest while Al-Haj Mizanur Rahman Mizan MP (Khulna-2), Sales, Marketing and Management Specialist SAM Showket Hossain and Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Masud Ahmed was present as keynote speakers. Vice-Chancellor of North South University Professor Dr. Atiqul Islam, Managing Director of Dhaka WASA Engineer Taqsem A Khan, former MD of Karnaphuli Insurance Co. Ltd. Md. The speakers urged the students to be committed to achieving their cherished goal and to maintain uncompromised attitude. The students should develop themselves as future leaders and march forward the country in the spirit of the Liberation War, they said. The persons, who do not dream any dream, do not get success, the speakers said, adding that everyone having skill, courage, and perseverance can reach his/her cherished goal. The chief guest asked the students to be worthy citizens of the country and devote themselves in building a happy, prosperous, and an enlightened nation in the spirit of the Liberation War. A good number of students, teachers, and employees of KUET and other educational institutions attended the summit.

The IIC – Innovation & Innovator Cell, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology celebrated ‘World Intellectual Property Day 2017’. In the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, a meeting was held at the conference room of the university at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, 26 April 2017. The Vice-Chancellor said that the day is celebrated for the purpose of excelling new innovations, research and technology and we agree with DG, WIPO that the IIC is also celebrating to all the risk-takers, all those who have dared to bring about positive change through innovation. The Event was organized by ‘The IIC – Innovation & Innovator Cell’.

A team from Mechanical Engineering Department of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) were participated in the “National Power and Energy Hackathon 2017” competition organized by Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources from 19-20 April 2017 at ICCB, Dhaka. The team named as “Technogenis” has become Champion in the competition in the category of Household Energy Efficiency. The team members were Abdullah Al Musabbir (Team Leader, 2k13 batch), Zeeshan Momtaz (2k13 Batch), Md. Mridul Khandaker (2k14 Batch), Shourov Barua (2k14 Batch).
