  • Fresher's Reception & Farewell of ECE Department held

  • Fresher’s Reception of the students of `16 batch and Farewell of outgoing graduate students of `12 batch of the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was held on 18 April at 4.30pm at the Auditorium. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Commodore K Kamrul Hassan, Managing Director, Khulna Shipyard Limited, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rafiq, Dean of EEE Faculty, Prof. Dr. Md. Faruque Hossain, Head of ECE Department were present as the special Guests. Dr. Monir Hossen, President, ECE Association presided over the ceremony. At the ceremony fresher’s students were received with flowers and crest handed over the graduate students. Among others teachers and students from ECE department were present in the function.




  • Pahela Baishakh 1424 Celebrated at KUET

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year 1424 amid festivity on April 14, 2017. The whole university wore a festive dimension as the students of KUET installed stalls representing their respective halls for Baishakhi Fair with pure Bengali fashion building straw & clay made beautiful huts. Very special “Panta” (watery rice) with green chilies, sort of native and indigenous cakes etc were the main attractions in the fair. Celebration started in the early morning with the enchanting Tagor’s melody song “Esho hey Baishakh esho esho” at the Central Play Ground. At 10am a grand colorful procession (Mongol Shovajatra) to mark the Pahela Baishakh started and paraded the whole varsity campus, Fulbarigate area led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir with participants in traditional attire wearing multi-coloured masks, palanquins etc. Cultural programmes, snake-charming, kite flying, cock fight, kabadi etc were also the day long native attractions of the day. Various cultural program and prize given ceremony also held at night in the auditorium.Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir attended all the programmes while wife of VC Ms. Meherunnesa Lata, Director (P&D) Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia accompanied him. In a short speech Vice-Chancellor said, Pahela Baishakh is deeply rooted in our heritage and we are proud of it. May the Bengali New Year bring message of joy for all and unite all to build a prosperous nation, he added. Students, Teachers, Officers and Staff of the university enjoyed the day long festival. Teachers Association, Officers Association and others Association of KUET also celebrated the day.

  • Representative from ICT Division visit KUET to observe the implementation status of proposed Hi-Tech Park

  • To observe the implementation status of proposed KUET Hi-Tech Park Mr. Md. Billal Hossain, Joint Secretary, ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and IT visited KUET. On 29 March at 11 am at the office of Vice-Chancellor a meeting held on this issue. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, deans, directors of the Institute, several departmental heads, directors, teachers and high officials were present at that time. They discuss various issues related to the Hi-Tech Park. Later they visited the site of proposed Hi-Tech Park. During the Visiting Joint Secretary of ICT Division Mr. Md. Billal Hossain said, In order to achieve Digital Bangladesh we have to set up high-tech parks with the latest information technology gadgets, starting with divisional headquarters. Khulna is going to get a high-tech park as soon as possible through the best uses of information and communication technologies (ICT). The Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir said, The hi-tech park is going to be established with a view to achieving a set of specific mission and vision of establishing a world class business environment for targeted high growth industrial sector and new business. "Likewise, it will provide employment for a large number of people in this area, including ICT buffs and professionals," he added.




  • Delegates from Gates Foundation and SNV Visited KUET

  • A High level team from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and SNV Netherlands Development Organisation Visited KUET on 27 March, 2017. The delegates met the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir in his office at 8:30am. The team comprises (i) Mr. Brian Arbogast, Director, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Program, Global Development, BMGF, (ii) Mr. Dennis Mwanza, Deputy Director, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, BMGF, (iii) Dr. Roshan Shrestha, Technical Lead South Asia, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Program, Global Development, BMGF, (iv) Ms. Megan Ritchie, Managing Director, WASH, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, (v) Mr. Jason Belanger, Country Director, Bangladesh, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, (vi) Mr. Rajeev Munankami, Senior Advisor and Team Leader FSM Programme, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, (vii) Mr. Md. Sahidul Islam, Engineering Advisor, FSM Programme, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation and (viii) Mr. Shahidul Islam, Governance Advisor, FSM Programme, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation. Head of Civil Engineering Department of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammad Harunur Rashid and Professor of Civil Engineering Department of KUET Dr. Khondoker Mahbub Hasan also present in the meeting. KUET is one of the key partners of this FSM Programme project. The team also met the relevant faculty members and discuss about the technical collaboration on FSM and future potentials. After discussion, the delegates visited the environmental laboratory and the work of the scholarship grantees. SNV Netherlands Development Organisation has started a program in three southern cities of Bangladesh to develop a pro-poor, accountable, safe and sustainable Faecal sludge management services for the urban context in Bangladesh. The programme aims to make hygienic Faecal sludge emptying services accessible and affordable to the urban poor through interventions that will make the sanitation sector more sustainable, competitive and dynamic. This project is being implemented under the leadership of local authorities in Khulna City Corporation, Kushtia and Jhenaidah Paurashava and SNV, while KUET, KU, KWASA, WaterAid Bangladesh providing necessary technical and other supports. .




  • KUET celebrated the 46th Independence & National day of Bangladesh

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the country's 46 independence & National day on March 26, 2017 Sunday by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, placed floral wreaths in front of the Liberation War Sculpture of KUET ‘Durbar Bangla’ at 09:30 AM on behalf of the University. Later, Teachers Association, Director (Students’ Welfare), Officers Association, Provosts and students of different Halls, Chattra Leage, 3rd Class Karmachari Samiti, 4th Class Karmachari Samiti, Masterroll Karmachary Samity, Bangabandhu Karmachari Parishad, Khulna Engineering University School, Unmesh Govt. Primary School & other organizations of KUET placed floral wreaths at the memorial.

    At 10 AM a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir awarded prizes among the winners of drawing competition as the Chief Guest.

    A charity cricket match between Teachers and Students of KUET was also held at the play ground at 10.30 AM. At 5 PM film screening of liberation war affairs held at the university auditorium. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the Nation’s bravest sons. Later, at 07.00 PM discussion meeting & cultural programmes related to independence day was held at the auditorium.




  • Genocide Day observed at KUET

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed the Genocide Day in a befitting manner on the University campus. On 25 March at 07 PM teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession of candle light led by the VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammad Alamgir to remember March 25, 1971, the darkest night in the history of Bangladesh. Later a discussion meeting held at the premises of “Shaheed Minar” to mark the Genocide Day. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammad Alamgir delivered speech as Chief Guest. Among other Dean of ME Faculty Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder, President of Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Registrar (in-charge) G M Shahidul Alam, President of Bangladesh Chattra Legue, KUET Shafayat Hossain Nayan delivered their speech. Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia presided over the program.




  • "Civil Festival 2017" held at KUET
    "Civil engineers can play vital role to make Bangladesh developed country"

  • Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir on Friday said, Civil Engineers can play a vital role to make Bangladesh a developed digital country. He also said, civil engineers should be more advance for marching country towards it cherished goal. He came up with this while he was addressing at an inauguration ceremony in a day-long first ever "Civil Festival 2017" held at its building. He was present at the programme as the chief guest. The day-long festival included commemoration meeting, campus visit, forming civil alumni association, cultural programme and raffle draw. The main objective of the festival was to build bridge among present and ex-students and teachers, creative and innovation work and get more works opportunity among them. Present and previous teachers and students of the Civil Engineering department were present at the function.

    Students of the university are the golden sons of Bangladesh and engineers of KUET are in honorary position in the country and abroad, the VC said, they should work to fulfill the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. VC also remembered role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for establishing Khulna Engineering College in 1974 which is turned as KUET. The festival was chaired by Head of Civil Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Muhammad Harunur Rashid. Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Bashar and ex-students of the department engineer Sayed Mahbubur Rahman, Md. Golam Mowla & Abdus Sakur spoke at the programme.

    Later, KUET VC Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated Universal Testing Machine(UTM) as the Chief Guest donated by Bandar Steel Industries to the Civil Engineering Department. Chairman of Bandar Steel Ltd Md. Sirajul Islam was present as Special Guest and Head of CE Department Prof. Dr. Muhammad Harunur Rashid presided over the function.

    The Festival has been organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, KUET in co-operation with Bandar Steel Industries Limited and Seven Rings Cement.

  • Inter Hall Cricket Tournament 2017 of KUET was held on 17 March, Friday at KUET central play ground. Fazlul Haque Hall got the honour of Champion by defeated Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall by 13 runs. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall got the award of Runner-up trophy. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present in the final match as the Chief Guest. He enjoyed the final match and awarded the Champion & Runner-up trophies, prizes to individual players, man of the final, best wicket taker and highest run achiever. Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia was presided over the prize given ceremony. Among others Provost of Fazlul Haque Hall Prof. Dr. Md.   • With solemn respect the 97th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day 2017 was observed at KUET. At 03:30 p.m. On 16 March, 2016 a discussion meeting was held at the university auditorium. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest while Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia in the chair. Dean of CE faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, Dean of EEE faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rafiq, President of Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Registrar (In-Charge) G.M. Shahidul Alam were addressed as Special Guest. Monoj Kumar Majumder, Section Officer (Grade-1) was anchoring the program. Among others Head of URP Department Prof. Dr. Md.     Media Adviser of Prime Minister urges students to build themselves as future leaders

  • Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury here on Saturday urged the students to build themselves as future leaders for taking the country forward with the spirit of Liberation War. “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had brought us an independent Bangladesh while his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to attain economic emancipation to make the country as a developed one,” he said. Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, was addressing as chief guest in a Youth Summit held at the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology(KUET) auditorium.

    Supported by Khulna University of Engineering and Technology(KUET), Assurance Developments, Borak, Kif Fable, Gazi Medical College, Unique Group, Rotary Clubs and other organizations, Center for Developing Management Excellence (CDME) organized the summit with the theme--Maximize the potential within career seminar for youth.

    Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology(KUET) Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, former chairman of Bangladesh Public Service Commission Ekram Ahmed, Ex-DG of BTV M Hamid, Chairman of Assurance Moni Group Gias Uddin Khan, Next-Rotary District Governor FM Alamgir and owner of Gazi Medical College and Hospital Dr. Gazi Mizanur Rahman, addressed as guest speakers. Ex-Rotary District Governor SAM Showket Hossain conducted the programme and addressed as keynote speaker.
