Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the country's 46 independence & National day on March 26, 2017 Sunday by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, placed floral wreaths in front of the Liberation War Sculpture of KUET ‘Durbar Bangla’ at 09:30 AM on behalf of the University. Later, Teachers Association, Director (Students’ Welfare), Officers Association, Provosts and students of different Halls, Chattra Leage, 3rd Class Karmachari Samiti, 4th Class Karmachari Samiti, Masterroll Karmachary Samity, Bangabandhu Karmachari Parishad, Khulna Engineering University School, Unmesh Govt. Primary School & other organizations of KUET placed floral wreaths at the memorial.

At 10 AM a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir awarded prizes among the winners of drawing competition as the Chief Guest.

A charity cricket match between Teachers and Students of KUET was also held at the play ground at 10.30 AM. At 5 PM film screening of liberation war affairs held at the university auditorium. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the Nation’s bravest sons. Later, at 07.00 PM discussion meeting & cultural programmes related to independence day was held at the auditorium.

Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed the Genocide Day in a befitting manner on the University campus. On 25 March at 07 PM teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession of candle light led by the VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammad Alamgir to remember March 25, 1971, the darkest night in the history of Bangladesh. Later a discussion meeting held at the premises of “Shaheed Minar” to mark the Genocide Day. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammad Alamgir delivered speech as Chief Guest. Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir on Friday said, Civil Engineers can play a vital role to make Bangladesh a developed digital country. He also said, civil engineers should be more advance for marching country towards it cherished goal. He came up with this while he was addressing at an inauguration ceremony in a day-long first ever "Civil Festival 2017" held at its building. He was present at the programme as the chief guest. The day-long festival included commemoration meeting, campus visit, forming civil alumni association, cultural programme and raffle draw. The main objective of the festival was to build bridge among present and ex-students and teachers, creative and innovation work and get more works opportunity among them. Present and previous teachers and students of the Civil Engineering department were present at the function.

Students of the university are the golden sons of Bangladesh and engineers of KUET are in honorary position in the country and abroad, the VC said, they should work to fulfill the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. VC also remembered role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for establishing Khulna Engineering College in 1974 which is turned as KUET. The festival was chaired by Head of Civil Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Muhammad Harunur Rashid. Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Bashar and ex-students of the department engineer Sayed Mahbubur Rahman, Md. Golam Mowla & Abdus Sakur spoke at the programme.

Later, KUET VC Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated Universal Testing Machine(UTM) as the Chief Guest donated by Bandar Steel Industries to the Civil Engineering Department. Chairman of Bandar Steel Ltd Md. Sirajul Islam was present as Special Guest and Head of CE Department Prof. Dr. Muhammad Harunur Rashid presided over the function.

The Festival has been organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, KUET in co-operation with Bandar Steel Industries Limited and Seven Rings Cement.

Workshop 2: “Sharing the Survey Results” under Self Assessment and Quality Assurance in higher Education at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), KUET” organized by Self Assessment Committee (SAC) of EEE Department held at KUET on 21 March, 2017. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rafiq, Dean, Faculty of EEE, Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain, Director of IQAC and Prof. Dr. Md. Training on role and responsibility & ethical principles of the university teachers organized by Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of KUET held on 18 march, 2017. Inter Hall Cricket Tournament 2017 of KUET was held on 17 March, Friday at KUET central play ground. Fazlul Haque Hall got the honour of Champion by defeated Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall by 13 runs. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall got the award of Runner-up trophy. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present in the final match as the Chief Guest. He enjoyed the final match and awarded the Champion & Runner-up trophies, prizes to individual players, man of the final, best wicket taker and highest run achiever. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury here on Saturday urged the students to build themselves as future leaders for taking the country forward with the spirit of Liberation War. “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had brought us an independent Bangladesh while his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to attain economic emancipation to make the country as a developed one,” he said. Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, was addressing as chief guest in a Youth Summit held at the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology(KUET) auditorium.

Khulna Divisionl National High School Programming Contest 2017' targeting secondary & higher secondary students in the country held at Friday March 10th at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET). Organized by the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT) of Bangladesh government, the contest will cover the entire country. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir present in the program as the Chief Guest while Head of the Department of CSE Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sheikh Sadi was in the Chair.

Three days long (25-27 February 2017) 5th International conference on Solid Waste Management in South Asian Countries WasteSafe 2017 successfully held at KUET. The experts, participates at the conference expressed their hope highly that this conference will bring new horizon in solid waste management sectors in the developing countries. KUET, Bauhaus University, Weimer of Germany, University of Padova, Italy, International Waste Working Group (IWWG) and ORBIT Group jointly organized the conference aiming to exchange views and experiences at international level and to understand solid waste management concept. Harunur Rashid inaugurated the conference as the Chief Guest on 26 February Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Chair, WasteSafe 2017 International Conference and Vice-Chancellor of KUET, delivered his welcome speech and presided over the function. A Theme Paper “New Perspectives Through Joint Research Activity” presented by the Prof. Dr. Liz Bachhuber at the inaugural session. Waste experts from different countries including Germany, Italy, Japan, Nepal, South Korea, India, Bangladesh participated in the conference. On February 26 at 07:30 p.m. Conference Dinner and an attractive cultural program were also held in a local hotel in this connection. A total number of 98 technical papers including, 1 Key-note Session, 3 key-note papers, 1 theme paper were presented in 12 parallel technical session where research scholars, experts, engineers, professionals of related field exchange views among themselves.

On February 27 at 05 p.m. the closing of the conference was held at the seminar room of Civil Engineering Dept. of KUET. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Chair, WasteSafe 2017 International Conference and Vice-Chancellor, KUET, presided over the function. He declared that the 6th Int’l Conference on WasteSafe 2019, that will be held on 23-24 February 2019. Before this conference of WasteSafe 2017, the first, second, third & fourth conference were successfully held in respectively 2009, 2011, 2013 & 2015.

Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed Shaheed Dibash & International Mother Language Day remembers the supreme sacrifices of the valiant sons of the soil who fought for establishing rights of the mother tongue in 1952.

The Orientation Program of newly admitted 1st year Bsc Eng, BURP & BArch students of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology for the Session of 2016-2017 held on February 16, 2017 at the KUET Auditorium. The students and their guardians were informed about the Academic procedures, rules and regulations including registration, examination systems, other academic matters, disciplines and co-curricular activities..

The Honb’le Chairman of UGC Prof. Abdul Mannan was present in the orientation ceremony as the Chief Guest. He highlighted the importance of the best use of knowledge may overcome all obstacles even though we have much limitations of infrastructure and other recourses. The Chief Guest also underscored the need for quality education at the University of Bangladesh. He hoped that KUET will provide quality education to the students despite the existing constraints so that they will be successful at their professional life.
