The three days long (29 Sep-01 Oct. 2016) TIB-KDS Debate2016 Fest were ended successfully in KUET campus. On 01 Oct. Saturday, as the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, the Vice-Chancellor of KUET, handed over the prizes to the winner at the closing ceremony in the KUET auditorium. Director of Outreach & Communication of TIB Dr. Rizwan-Ul-Alam, Director(Student’s welfare) of KUET Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia, Moderator of KDS Tonmoy Chakraborty, Member of SONAK of Khulna Prof. Md. Jafor Imam were present as the Special Guests while Farhana Kabir Jisha, President of KDS, presided over.

In the Debate, the team from Premier University became the Champion, while Dhaka College team became the Runner-up. 32 teams from 30 institute attended TIB-KDS Debate Fest 2016.

Day long workshop on `Team Building workshop: Self-Assessment and Quality Assurance in Higher Education’ held at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on 28 September, 2016. Self-Assessment Committee (SAC) of the Department of CSE organized the workshop.

Vice-chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest in the function. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rafiq, Dean, Faculty of EEE and Prof. Dr.Tarapada Bhowmick Director of IQAC present as Special Guest. Chairman of SAC of CSE Prof. Dr. Md. Muhammed Sheikh Sadi presided over the function. In the workshop Technical Session presented by Prof. Dr. M.M.A. Hashem, Prof. Dr. Md. Monjur Hossain and Prof. Dr. Md. Kutub Uddin.

This was done as a part of SAC of the Department of CSE under the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) of Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC). Teachers, Officers of the Department of CSE and other Department & Section were present in the workshop.

Md. Abdul Mannan, Member of Planning Commission visited Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on 23 September 2016. He visited the spot images of the university infrastructure and academic development. He expressed satisfaction to saw the smoothly running of the construction works of the projects at KUET. The online application Submission for the first year B.Sc. Engineering, Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURP) and Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) courses admission of 2016-17 academic session of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) began on 19 September 2016 Monday. The Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the online application in presence of an applicant who complete the application form held at KUET IICT office at 10 AM. Among others Chairman of the Admission Test committee 2016-17 and Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Prof. Dr. Tarapada Bhowmick, Deans of other faculties, Departmental Heads, Directors, Registrar and other officers related to the online registration were present in the function. The online application will continue till 28 September 2016. The list of qualified applicants of the admission test will be displayed on 09 October 2016. The Admission Test will be held on 28 October Friday at 9:30 am to 12:00 pm.

In the academic session 2016-2017 this year a total number of 1005 students will be admitted in 14 Departments such as 120 seats for Civil Engineering (CE), 120 seats for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), 120 seats for Mechanical Engineering (ME), 120 seats for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), 60 seats for Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), 60 seats for Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE), 60 seats for Lather Engineering (LE), 60 Seats for Textile Engineering (TE), 60 seats for Building Engineering and Construction Management (BECM), 60 seats for Urban and Regional Planning (URP), 30 seats for Biomedical Engineering, 40 seats for Architecture (BArch), 60 seats for Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), 30 seats for Energy Science and Engineering (ESE) with 5 seats reserved.

Anti-militancy meeting held at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Auditorium on September 03 at 3:00 pm. Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) celebrated its 13th founding anniversary and University Day 2016 on September 01, 2016 through a series of colourful programmes. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid MP inaugurated the day-long elaborated program as the chief guest Chaired by Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. After that a grand rally was brought out by the students, teachers, officers, staff, ex-students, persons from civil societies and many others paraded at the University campus as well as Fulbarigate area of Khulna city with colourful banner, festoon and placard, carriage drawn by horses, drum music etc. at around 10:30 am. To mark the day various colourful programmes were taken such as hoisting national and university flags, bringing out procession, holding discussion, innovative projects exhibition, technical poster exhibition, technical papers presentation, tree plantation, inauguration ceremony of newly built buildings, opening laboratories of different departments, charity football match, doa mahfil and cultural events. The key buildings of the university will be decorated with colourful lights on the occasion.

Earlier, the chief guest Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid MP inaugurated the programme by hoisting the National Flag and releasing balloons & pigeons. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir hoisted the university flag. Dean of ME Faculty and the president of university founding anniversary committee 2016, Prof. Dr. Tarapada Bhowmick delivered address of welcome.

The Chief Guest said that Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has been playing its role very significantly and contributing in the field of Science & Engineering and Research. Established as Khulna Engineering College in 1967, the institution started its academic activities on June 03 in 1974 with a total of 120 students under three departments on the special direction of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later, it was remodeled as Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) in 1986 and was upgraded to a university on September 01 in 2003 with the name 'Khulna University of Engineering and Technology'.

A day-long workshop on “Good Governance (Office & Financial Management)” was held on 20 August in the administrative building conference room. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the day-long workshop as the chief guest. National Mourning Day was observed with due solemnity, marking the 41th anniversary of assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Marking the day a Discussion Meeting was held at KUET Auditorium on August 14 at 3:30 pm. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest while President of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, Khulna Dr. Shekh Baharul Alam was present as the Chief Speaker. On august 15, Early in the morning the national flag was flown at half-mast and black flag was flown at the administrative building, vice-chancellor’s residential building and all the residential halls of student. At 9:00 a.m. a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. Vice-Chancellor distributed the prize among the winners of drawing competition.

At 10:30 a.m. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the portrait of the great leader in front of Central Shaheed Miner on behalf of the University. “Youth and Carrier Carnival” held at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) at 04 August 2016. The programme was organized to concern the student about the following topics:In the era of globalization, Effective Communication, Leadership & Networking are the key tool in developing career at any field. Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed with respect and honour the 155th birth anniversary of world famous scientist Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy.

The birth anniversary program was held at Auditorium of KUET on Tuesday August 02 at 3:15pm. Vice-Chancellor of kuet Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present there as the Chief Guest while `Smaraka Speaker’ was Prof Sadhan Ranjan Ghosh, Former principal of Govt BL College and `Memorial lecture’ delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf, Dept of Chemistry of KUET. Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia was presided over the birth anniversary program.

Speakers recalled the life and works of world famous scientist and noted philosopher Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy (APC Roy). The speakers recalled Roy, also a noted teacher, discoverer and philanthropist, while observing his 155th birth anniversary on Tuesday. As a part of the countrywide human chain against all sorts of militancy, terrorism and terror attacks, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) organized a human chain in its campus on 1 August Monday for 11 am to 12 Noon.

The speakers unanimously opined that all quarters should supplement the government efforts towards freeing the nation from the curse of militancy and terror attacks.

They mentioned that comprehensive efforts of all walks of life could create public awareness to launch a social movement involving the common people for resisting terrorism, militancy, secret killings and conspiracies against the country. They strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks and killings of innocent people at Holy Artisan Bakary, Gulshan, Dhaka and near Sholakia Eid Maidan, Kishorgong.

After the Human Chain, a Mass Signature Program also held in front of Auditorium. The VC of KUET started mass signature by writing his commitment to protect the peace of the country by defeating the militancy and terrorist both in home and abroad.

5th Inter Department and Community Debates Tournament 2016 successfully held at KUET on 25 July, 2016. The competition took place at the auditorium of KUET. KUET Debating Society (KDS) organized the debate competition. The Department of URP (Urban and Regional Planning) and the Department of BECM ( Building Engineering and Construction Management) have been honoured as the Champion respectively in Bengali & English part while the Department of EEE (Electrical And Electronic Engineering) and the Department of URP have been rewarded as the runner-up respectively in Bangali & English part.

The Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir who is also the founder moderator of KDS, was present there as the Chief Guest. He enjoyed the final competition and awarded prizes among the winners. A day-long training program “Role and Responsibility & Ethical Principles of the University Teacher” arranged by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at KUET was held on 16 July in the administrative building conference room. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the day-long workshop as the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Prof. Dr. Md. Osman Goni, Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering were present as the Special Guest. The distinguished Resource Person Prof. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Department of Micro-Biology, Dhaka University was present as the speaker. The function was presided over by the Director of IQAC, KUET Prof. Dr. Tarapada Bhowmick. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, VC of KUET, inaugurated a four stored residential building (Building No 4) for senior teachers and officers of the University on July 14, 2016 at 11:40 AM. At the inauguration ceremony, in a short speech, he said, senior teachers and officers leave here comfortly. He also mentioned, with the establishment of this building a long desire of the senior teachers and officers are fulfilled. He also thanked Prime Minister, Education Minister, UGC and other relevant person for the finalization of this project. Director (P&D) Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Chief Engineer A B M Mamunur Rashid spoke on the function. Later, Vice-Chancellor visited all the room of the building. A tea party arranged by the administration of KUET for the retirement of Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Md. Nawsher Ali Moral and Professor of Civil Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Md. Keramat Ali Mollah on July 13, 2016 at 3:30 pm. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir presided over the function. Faculty deans, directors, departmental heads, provosts of the hall, registrar and other high official of KUET attended the function. In the meantime, crest handed over to the retired Professors and adorned them with sash (Uttoriyo) by the VC of KUET.

Later, a farewell ceremony also arranged by the Teachers Association for the retirement of Professor Dr. Md. Nawsher Ali Moral and Professor Dr. Md. Keramat Ali Mollah at 7 pm. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir present as the chief guest while Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, President of Teachers Association, in the chair. Tree plantation program held at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on Friday, 24 June, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Tree Development Committee of KUET organized this tree plantation program. Vice-chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the program with planting a tree beside of new Lake of KUET. Mrs. Meherunnesa Lata, Wife of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, Dean of Civil Engineering faculty was also present in the program.
