Switchgear and protection laboratory inaugurated on June 14, 2015 at the EEE Department of KUET. Establishment of this laboratory the students are gathered real experience of online protection of electrical tools like generator, transformer etc, which is use for electrical power generation, transmission and distribution. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the laboratory as the Chief Guest. From the Teacher of EEE Department, Director of IICT Prof. Dr. Bashudeb Chandra Ghosh, Director (Research & Extension) Prof. Dr. Md. World Environment Day 2015 was celebrated at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) amid colorful programme. The Programme was initiated by the Institute of Disaster Management (IDM), Civil Engineering and URP department of the University. At 03:30 p.m. of 08 June teachers, students, officers, employees gathered and brought out a rally from the administrative building and paraded the whole campus and ended in front of Auditorium led by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir.

Later, An intellectual seminar was organized entitled “Seven Billion Dreams, One Planet, Consume with Care” as a part of celebration the World Environment Day 15. VC of KUET Dr. Alamgir was present there as the Chief Guest and delivered his valuable speech. Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Dean, CE Faculty, Prof. Dr. Md. Syed Ali Molla, Dean, ME Faculty addressed as the Special Guests. Tusar Kanti Roy, Head, Department of URP delivered welcome address and presented the main Paper of the seminar headed “Seven Billion Dreams, One Planet, Consume with Care”. Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Head, Departmen of Civil Engineering presided over the seminar and made the closing remarks. The seminar was representation by S.M. Tariqul Islam, Lecturer of IDM.

A team of two students from URP department, KUET participated and achieved runner up position in the‘Brainstorming: IT based Business Idea Contest’ in ‘DUITS 4th National Campus IT Fest 2015’. The event was jointly organized by Dhaka University IT Society (DUITS) & ICT Division, MoPTIT. The theme of this festival was “IT Enabled Campus for Better Education”.

A team of two students of URP department of KUET participated in this event. They competed with more than 12 universities including Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Dhaka University, BRAC University, AIUB, North South University etc. In the prize giving ceremony Sunzid Hassan and K.M.Nabiul Haque of 2k12 batch of URP department of KUET were the award winning students and their presented topic in the competition was “Ecommerce based on Land Information System”.

Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the construction works of horizontal expansion of Civil Engineering Building. The construction works was inaugurated by laying the foundation stone on June 02, 2015 at 12 pm. In a short speech Professor Alamgir thanked Hon’ble Prime Minister, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education, UGC and all concerned related to this work. Khulna Division National High School Programming Contest 2015' targeting high school students in the country with 'Let them know, show yourself off' as its slogan held at Friday May 15th at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET). Organized by the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT) of Bangladesh government, the contest will cover the entire country. Secretary of the ICT Division, Mr. Shyam Sundor Sikder present in the program as the Chief Guest while Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was in the Chair.

Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) organized a day long teachers training program for the KUET teachers. KUET VC Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the program at conference room of the university administrative building on 09 May at 8.30 a.m. In inauguration speech he said, “A good teacher can be produced a lot of teachers. Teachers should develop appropriately through education and training.Education is the backbone of a nation. The more educated nation, the more advanced nation . There is no substitute of education for national development. On April 30, 2015, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, VC of KUET, inaugurates the construction works of the Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Building alongside the new academic building at KUET premises. At this simple foundation-stone laying ceremony, in a short speech, he says that after completion of the building academic activities can be held here smoothly. He also mentioned that with the start of this construction works, a long desire of the KUET gets into right shape. Right on the spots he directed the contractor, engineers and other relevant person to do everything to ensure better construction & timely completion of the project.
