Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) Association of KUET celebrated farewell of `09 batch and fresher’s reception of `13 batch students on 25 August, 2014 at the University Auditorium. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir graced the occasion as the chief guest while, Prof. Dr. Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed, Head, Department of EEE present as the special guest. President of EEE Association & Dean of Faculty of EEE Prof. Dr. Md. Nurunnabi Mollah presided over the ceremony. Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed With solemn respect and honour the 39th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day on 15 august, 2014. At 10:30 a.m. KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir placed floral wreath on behalf of the University at the portrait of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Administrative Building of KUET.

On 15 august morning Black flags were hoisted and the national flag flew at half-mast atop all important buildings in the campus. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed soul of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

A Discussion Meeting for the 39th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day was held at KUET Auditorium on August 14 at 04:00 pm. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present there as the Chief Guest while Prof. Anwarul Kadir was present as the Chief Speaker.

A week-long Tree Plantation Week-2014 organised by Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) began on the campus on 13 august, Wednesday as part of the government's country wide tree plantation programme for turning it a social movement. KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammed Alamgir inaugurated Tree Plantation Week-2014 as chief guest on KUET campus.

KUET VC Prof. Alamgir advised every citizen for planting tree saplings of medicinal, timber and fruit bearing trees everywhere, including the homesteads, academic institutional campuses, roadsides and other open spaces during the current rainy season for increasing the forest areas. So, there is no alternative to produce local and indigenous fruits on a large scale to meet the growing demand of nutrition of the people and to face bad effects of climate change.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of social forest division, Bagerhat zone Md Mizanur Rahman was the special guest. Convener of the KUET Tree Plantation Organising Committee librarian Akkas Uddin Pathan presided over the opening session.

Earlier, on the occasion, a colourful procession led by VC Professor Dr. Alamgir was brought out from Administrative Building that paraded the main roads on the campus and ended at the new accademic Building. Deans of other Faculties, Departmental Heads, Directors, teachers, officers, staffs and students of KUET attended the procession. Then, KUET VC Prof. Alamgir planting a tree in front of the Liberation War Sculpture ‘Durbar Bangla`.

Awarness Seminar on Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE) held at KUET. ICT Division of Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Bangladesh IT-engineers Examination Center (BDITEC) were organized the Awareness Seminar at the KUET auditorium on August 12, 2014 at 3 pm.

Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir has been appointed Vice-chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) for 2nd consecutive term. Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of KUET, reappointed Dr. Alamgir for four years’ term on Sunday, 03 August under KUET ordinance in 2003. Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir has been appointed Vice-chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) for 2nd term. Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of KUET, reappointed Dr Alamgir for four years’ term on Sunday under KUET ordinance in 2003. After joining for the second term, Professor Alamgir placed floral wreaths at KUET Shaheed Minar, Gallamari Martyrs’ Memorial in the city and the grave of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj. He was accompanied by teachers, officers and employees of KUET.

Expressing gratitude to the President, the Prime Minister, the Education Minister and UGC Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir said, “I will try my best to make the KUET as one of the best Universities in the country as well as in the World. On July 21, 2010, Professor Alamgir was made VC of KUET for four years. Prof Dr Alamgir is the senior teacher of Civil Engineering (CE) Department of KUET. He joined KUET as a professor on May 2002.

Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has decided to open Bio Medical Engineering (BME) at undergraduate level from 2014-15 academic year. University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh approved it on July 17, 2014 following the decision of university academic council meeting on September 12, 2013 and hence approved by the syndicate. The Bio Medical Engineering Department is already in KUET since 2007 at post-graduate level. In the meantime, many students successfully completed their M.Sc. Engineering Degree in Bio Medical Engineering. A total of 30 students will get the opportunity for admission at this department in the first year B.Sc. Engineering course from the current academic session. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, the Vice-Chancellor of KUET said that the start of Biomedical Engineering in the undergraduate level is the first time in the country, and it will definitely play a vital role to meet the current demand in this sector, in which Bangladeh is lagging behind.

At the 47th meeting of Syndicate held on 26.o6.2014, the logo of KUET is modified as per the recommendation of the committee formed at the 46th meeting of syndicate of KUET to revise the existing logo after consulting with the relevant stakeholders and the consideration of other issues.
