  • Orientation programme of the first year students under the academic Session 2013-14 of B.Sc. Engineering and BURP held

  • The orientation programme of the first year students under the academic Session 2013-14 of B.Sc Engineering and BURP of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) were held at the auditorium of KUET on Thursday 24 April 2014, at 10.00 a.m.

    KUET Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir welcomed the students in the university and he advised the new students should groom themselves as competent citizens by engaging in extra curricular and creative activities with their regular academic feat. It is a place where you will learn more than what you will be taught in the classroom. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir also advised them to do research-based studies utilizing the facilities and resources provided by the university. Terming the students as the future leaders of the nation, he said they should be equipped with modern information and communication technologies and modern education. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir also asked the students not only confine to formal education provided by the university rather the students need to be involved in moral education which may contribute the students to make complete human being in the society.

    Dean of faculty of Civil Engineering Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Dean of faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Prof. Dr. Md. Nurunnabi Mollah, Dean of faculty of Mechanical Engineering Prof. Dr. Md. Syed Ali Molla, Director of Students’ Welfare Prof. Dr. Md. Osman Goni spoke on the occasion. Register of KUET Md. Abdur Rouf delivered address of welcome. Departmental heads of all B.Sc degrees offered department introduced his newly admitted student.

    Director (IICT), Other Directors, Other departmental heads, Provosts and Assistant Provost of the Hall, Teachers, Officers of KUET and all the newly admitted students of KUET attended the programme.


  • KUET Celebrated Pahela Baishskh with traditional Bengali Fashion

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year 1421 amid festivity on Monday, April 14, 2013. The whole university wore a festive dimension as the students of KUET installed stalls representing their respective halls for a Baishakhi Fair with pure Bengali fashion building straw & clay made beautiful huts. Very special “Panta” (watery rice) and fried Hilsha fish with green chilies, sort of native and indigenous cakes etc. were the main attractions in the fair. Celebration started in the early morning with the enchanting Tagor’s melody song “Esho hey Baishakh esho esho” at the auditorium premises of the evergreen KUET campus. At 10:00 am a grand colourful procession (Mongol Shovajatra) to mark the Pahela Baishakh started and paraded the whole varsity campus, Fulbari area led by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir with participants in traditional attire wearing multi-coloured masks, palanquins, bullock-carts etc. Cultural programmes, snake-charming, kite flying, cock fight, kabadi, fanush (paper-balloon) flying etc. were also the day long native attractions of the day. VC Prof. Dr. Alamgir attended all the programmes. Teachers, students, officers and staff of the university, teachers and students of Khulna Engineering University School (Primary & Secondary) and KUET Unmesh Primary School enjoyed the day long festival.


  • ECE Based Projects Show Held at KUET

  • Projects Show 2014 organized by the 3rd year 2nd term students of ECE department of KUET held at 8 April, 2014. 24 projects based on Electronics & Communication Engineering were presented in this projects show. Among them Power line data transmission, Smart home system, Self balancing robot, Blood glucose meter, Smart watch, Path directing device for blind people etc. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir present there as the Chief Guest while Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Head, Depertment of ECE in a Chair. Prof. Dr. Md. Nurunnabi Mollah, Dean, Faculty of EEE present there as the Special Guest. Course Co-ordinator Dr. Pallab Chowdhury and other teachers of ECE Department were also present at the Project Show.

  • Urban & Regional Planning department (URP) of KUET organized a seminar for knowledge sharing entitled “Integrated Social, Environmental & Engineered Changes in Coastal Bangladesh” on April 3, 2014. KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir present in the seminar as the Chief Guest while Head of URP Department Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Bashar in the chair. In the seminar paper presented by Dr. Bishawjit Mallick, Post-doctoral Fellow, Vanderbilt University, USA and Ms. Anna Catherine Carella, PhD Student Vanderbilt University, USA. The seminar was representing by Assistant Professor of URP Department Mr. Tusar Kanti Roy.


  • KUET celebrated the 43st Independence & National day of Bangladesh

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the country's 43 independence & National day on March 26, 2014 Wednesday by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971.

    Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, placed floral wreaths on `Gollamary Memorial Monument’ at 26 March, 00:01 am. on behalf of the University. Later, Director (Students’ Welfare), KUET Teachers Association, KUET Officers Association, KUET Chattra leage, Bangabandhu Karmachary Parishad & other organizations of KUET placed floral wreaths at the memorial.

    The authorities of KUET took two days long elaborated programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner. On 25 March, 06.45 p.m. KUET teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession of candle light led by the VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Alamgir to remember March 25, 1971, the darkest night in the history of Bangladesh.

    On 26 March, at 09:00 a.m, a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Alamgir awarded prizes among the winners of drawing competition as the Chief Guest. Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shakher Sikder, Director (Student Welfare) Prof. Dr. Osman Goni present there as the special guest.

    At 11 a.m. KUET students, teachers, officers, staff, Students of KUET School, other students and teachers of school near by the university area gathered in the university central play ground and performed national anthem to express their solidarity with the country wide performing national anthem program.

    A charity cricket match between Teachers and Students of KUET was also held at the play ground at 11:30 am. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the Nation’s bravest sons. Later, at 07.00 p.m. a discussion meeting & cultural programmes related to independence day was held at the auditorium.


  • Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Birthday & the National Children Day celebrated at KUET

  • With solemn respect and honour the 94th Birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children Day was observed at KUET on 17 March, 2014. The University authority celebrate the day in a befitting manner with elaborated programmes such as recitation, essay writing, hand writing and drawing competition for the student of Khulna Engineering University School (primary & secondary section) & KUET Unmesh Primary School. Programmes were started at 7:30 a.m. At 9:00 a.m. teachers, students, officers, employees, teachers & students of the schools gathered and brought out a colorful procession led by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. He placed floral wreath on behalf of the University at the portrait of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Central Shaheed Miner of KUET.

    At 10:00 a.m. a discussion meeting was also held at the university auditorium with Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Md. Osman Goni in the chair. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor was present as the Chief Guest. Among others Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Head of Industrial Engineering and Menagement Prof Dr. Tarapada Bhowmick, Deputy Director (Students’ Welfare) Dr. G.G. Md. Nawaz Ali, Deputy Registrar G.M. Shadul Alam, Headmaster of Khulna Engineering University School (Secondary) T M Sanaur Rahman, Headmaster of KUET Unmesh Primary School Md. Akber Hossain and Headmaster of Khulna Engineering University School (Primary) Md. Bodiar Rahman, KUET students tanvir ahamed, Rumen rayhan, Khan Md. shaymon Islam, Md. adij Jaman Khan, Najmus Sakib Tareq, Staff Md. Imrul Islam and among school students Hasibul Hossain, Afrida Nawrin and Ruksana Akter spoke in the meeting. A Cultural programmes also held at the auditorium after the discussion meeting.

    After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed soul of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.


  • Teachers training program held at KUET

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) organized a day long teachers training program for the KUET teachers. KUET VC Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the program at conference room of the university administrative building on 15 March at 8.50 a.m. In inauguration speech he said, “Education is the backbone of a nation. The more educated nation, the more advanced nation . There is no substitute of education for national development. We need a good teacher to educate a nation . A good teacher can be produced a lot of teachers. Teachers should develop appropriately through education and training.” In the day long program the topics were- professional ethics of university teacher, student- teacher relationship in the higher education institutions, duties and responsibilities of university teachers, university laws, provision, regulation and statute, provision of vacation, vacation for higher education. vacation for post doctoral, lien, teaching methods, questionnaires formulating, testing, audit, university academic ordinance, regulations of CRTS and research projects, retirement rules etc. Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Dean of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Nurunnabi Mollah, Director (IICT) Prof. Dr. Bashudeb Chandra Ghosh, Director (Research & Extension) Prof. Dr. Naseem Ahmed, Head of Energy Technology Department Prof. Dr. A N M Mizanur Rahman, Prof. of Mechanical Engineering Department Dr. Md. Kutub Uddin and Principle of the teachers training college, Khulna Prof. Dr. Nikhil Kumar Ray participate in the discussion on the program. Teachers of various departments of KUET participated in the training program. Registrar Md. Abdur Rouf, Deputy Registrar G M Shahidul Alam, Assistant Registrar Md. Abdul Malek Mridha were also present in the program.

Falk, Institute of Biology, Chemistry,Geography,Physics,Department of Geography, Padagogische Hochschule Freiburg; Thomas Hirsch, Policy Representative, Brot fuer die welt; Joyanta Adhikari, Executive Director, Christian Commission For Development In Bangladesh discussed with Vice-Chancellor about International Capacity Building Center for Community Based Climate Resilience, Alternative Technology & Low Carbon Solutions. They also told to KUET Vice-Chancellor that they decided to established a Community Based Capacity Buildind Center in khulna.


  • Annual Sports 2013 Held at KUET

  • Two days long Annual Sports Competition 2013 held at KUET on 6 & 7 March 2014. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the function by raising the national flag, releasing pair of pigeons and a handful colored balloons on 6 March at 9:30 a.m. at the University play ground. He said sports can ensure the brotherhood mentality among the students which can make the nation developed in future. Students should take part in sports besides there studies. He also expressed his joy after watching the students’ enthusiastic manner at the competition. Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Md. Osman Goni, who was also the President of the Annual Sports 2013 competition committee was present there. Among others Provosts of different Halls, Deans, Directors, Departmental Heads, other teachers, Officers, students and staffs were present in the function.

    At the very next day on 7 March at 4:30 p.m. the Hon’ble State Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh has given away prizes among the winners of the competitions as the Chief Guest while Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir present as the Special Guest.Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Md. Osman Goni, who was also the President of the Annual Sports 2013 competition committee was present there. Among others Provosts & Assistant Provosts of different Halls, Deans, Directors, Departmental Heads, other teachers, Officers, students and staffs were present in the function. Plenty of spectators enjoyed the colorful two days long various attractive competition of the Annual Sports Competition 2013 of KUET students.

  • A Seminar on General Design Approach for Strengthening of Concrete Structures held at Department of Civil Engineering Seminer room of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on 27 February, 2014 at 10.00 a.m. The Seminar has been organized by Md. Ataur Rahman, Asstt. Prof., departments Civil Engineering, KUET. KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir were present in the Seminar. Technical paper were presented by Prof. Ueda Tamon, Division of Engineering and Policy for Sustainable Environment faculty of Engineering, Hokkaido University.


  • KUET Observed Shaheed Dibash & International Mother Language Day

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed Shaheed Dibash & International Mother Language Day remembers the supreme sacrifices of the valiant sons of the soil who fought for establishing rights of the mother tongue in 1952.

    At 10:30 pm on 20 February a discussion meeting and cultural program was held at in front of the university auditorium. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present there and delivered his speech. Among others Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Tarapada Bhowmick, Head, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management also delivered their speech. Prof. Dr. Osman Goni, Director (Students’ Welfare) presided over the function.

    Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir placed floral wreaths on KUET central Shaheed Meenar at 21 February, 12:01 a.m. on behalf of the University. Later, Director (Students’ Welfare), KUET Teachers Association,  Provosts and students of different Halls, KUET Officers Association, KUET Chattra Leage, KUET Bangabandhu Karmachari Parishad, KUET Karmachari Samiti & other organizations of KUET placed floral wreath at the memorial.

    On 21 February morning Black flags were hoisted and the national flag flew at half-mast atop all important buildings in the campus. Later at 9:30 am a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central Mosque.


  • International Conference on Civil Engineering for Sustainable Development (ICCESD-2014) held at KUET

  • A three-day 2nd International Conference on Civil Engineering for Sustainable Development (ICCESD-2014) held at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on 14-16 February, 2014. The conference has been organized by Faculty of Civil Engineering, KUET in co-operation with Seven Rings Cement, Bandar Steel Industries Limited and Basundhara Cement with an aim to exchange views and experiences at international level and find out probable solutions for meeting the demand of concept as a whole. President of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) Prof. Dr. Shamim Z. Bosunia inaugurated the conference as chief guest on 14 February at 9:30 am. Vice-chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Mohammed Alamgir presided over the inaugural session. Vice-chancellor of Stamford University, Bangladesh Prof. Dr. M. Feroz Ahmed and renowned Civil Engineer of Bangladesh Engr. SM Shaheedullah were present as special guests. Chair of the conference organising committee Prof. Dr. Md Abul Bashar delivered welcome address and secretary of the organising committee Prof. Dr. Md Harunur Rashid delivered vote of thanks on the first day. Scientists, engineers, researchers and scholars from different universities, deans of different faculties of KUET, departmental heads and directors participated in the conference..In their speech all the guest and experts hoped that the conference would be able to share knowledge and experiences to develop new ideas about proper utilize of civil engineering facilities through use of new technologies.

    At 7:30 pm. Bandar Steel Industries Limited and Department of Civil Engineering, KUET signed an agreement. Vice-chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Mohammed Alamgir were present during the agreement as chief guest. Chairman of Bandar Steel Ltd Md Sirajul Islam, managing director Md Abul Kalam, Prof. Dr. a s w Kurny from BUET, Dean of Civil Engineering of KUET Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder and former departmental head of Civil Engineering Prof. Dr. Khandoker Md Saiful Islam were present as special guests. Head of Civil Engineering of KUET Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful islam presided over the agreement session. Prof. Dr. Md Harunur Rashid delivered welcome address.


  • Int'l conference on EICT 2013 held at KUET

  • A three-day International Conference on Electrical Information and Communication Technology (EICT-2013) held at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on 13-15 February, 2014. The conference has been organized by Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, KUET. KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurated the conference as chief guest on 13 February at 3 pm. at the University auditorium. Dean of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Nurunnobi Mollah presided over the inaugural session. Vice-chancellor of United International University, Dhaka Prof. Dr. M. Rezwan Khan and Prof. Dr. Subir Kumar Sarkar from Jadavpur University, India were present as special guests. Chair of the conference organising committee Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Ghani Bhuiyan delivered welcome address. In the key note session individually paper presented by Prof. Dr. M. Rezwan Khan and Prof. Dr. Subir Kumar Sarkar after the inauguration ceremony. In the second day of conference key note session presented by Prof. Mohammed Atiquzzaman, School of Computer Science University of Oklahoma, Norman, Prof. Javed I. Khan, Depertment of Computer Science, Kent State University, Ohio, USA, Prof. Dr. M. M. A. Hashem, KUET, Prof. Muhammad H. Rashid, Electrical and Computer Engineering University of West Florida, USA.

    Scientists, engineers, researchers and scholars from different universities, deans of different faculties of KUET, departmental heads and directors participated in the conference. In their speech all the guest and experts hoped that the conference would be able to share knowledge and experiences to develop new ideas through use of new technologies.

    From the world 14 countries 106 technical papers are selected from more than 400 research papers through blind pier review, which are presented in 24 technical session in the three days conference and the best 3 papers are rewarded. The participants of the conference visited Sundarban and Mongla Port and conference dinner also held at the end of Conference.


  • Saraswati Puja celebrated at KUET

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated Saraswati Puja, one of the religious festivals of the Hindu community on 4 February, 2014, with traditional gaiety, religious fervour and spirit of pursuit of art and knowledge which Goddess Saraswati provides. The Hindus worship Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, music, art and culture, on the Vasant Panchami day with pomp every year mostly in educational institutions, where the students seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir visited the celebration of Saraswati Puja in the University Campus. He exchanged greetings with the devotees and spend sometimes with them. In a speech, he hoped that the students will uphold the inner message of the Goddess Saraswati to develop the inside of their mind, which will lead them to work hard for the development of better Bangladesh.   • Education Minister greeted by KUET VC

  • Upon becoming the Education Minister of Bangladesh for the consecutive second term, Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid MP was warmly greeted at his office by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir on last 26th January 2014 Sunday. The VC of KUET hoped that the rest of task for the full implementation of Education Policy 2010 will be completed as per the schedule under his outstanding leadership despite all the limitation of resources. He also congratulated the Hon’ble Minister for excellent management and hard work to reach the new text books to all students in-time despite countrywide unprecedented violence created by the opposition parties. The Hon’ble minister gave a patience hearing to know present situation, ongoing activities and future plan of KUET. He expressed his satisfaction and gave assurance to maintain his ongoing assistance to enhance education and research environment of KUET.

  • Students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) formed a Human Chain in front of Liberation War Sculpture “Durbar Bangla” at 15 January, 2014, demanded exemplary punishment to the perpetrators of the attacks on minority community in different parts of the country.

    Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Director of IICT Prof. Dr. Bashudeb Chandra Ghosh, Head of IEM Department Prof. Dr. Tarapada Bhowmick, Head of Textile Engineering Department Prof. Dr Mihir Ranjan Halder, Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Osman Gani, Assistant Prof. of Humanities Department Shuheli Shaila Ahmed and among the students Ratul, Tanmoy, Shuvra, Partha addressed the programme. Russian Citizen Mashud Majumder and his wife Lena Majumder also participate the program. Among others Teachers, Officers, Staffs were also present in the Human Chain.

    The speakers called for formation of a tribunal to try the perpetrators and also demanded rehabilitation of the victims who lost their homes and businesses. The speakers urged all political parties to stand united against communal forces.

    a Resolution on the Execution of War Criminal Abdul Quader Mollah

  • Teachers, Officers, Staffs and Students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) formed a Human Chain in front of the KUET auditorium at 24 December, 2013, protesting the resolution adopted by Pakistan Parliament over the execution of war criminal Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Head of Textile Engineering Department Prof. Dr Mihir Ranjan Halder, Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Osman Gani, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia of Mechanical Engineering Department, Deputy Registrar G M Shahidul Alam, KUET staff Suruzzaman Hanif and Students Ratul, Tanjim, Tanim spoke on the occasion. The speakers condemned Pakistan for its stance against the war criminals. Through adopting the resolution which goes against the demand of Bangladesh people, Pakistan proved that it did not change its heinous stance they had taken during the Liberation War of 1971, they added. Execution of Quader Mollah and trial of war criminals are internal affairs of Bangladesh and Pakistan should not have the audacity to interfere into it, they observed. They urged the government to ask the Pakistan government to apology for the comments and withdraw the resolution. Later, agitated KUET Students, Teachers, Officers and Staffs burnt the Pakistan’s flag and effigy of Pakistan Member of Parliament (MP) and also former cricketer Imran Khan.

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the Victory Day on December 16, 2013 by paying utmost respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971.

    Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir placed floral wreaths on Gollamary Memorial Monument at 16 December, 12:01 a.m. on behalf of the University. Later, Director (Students’ Welfare), Provosts of different Halls, Teachers Association, Officers Association, KUET Cattra League, Bangabandhu Karmochary Parishad & other organizations of KUET placed floral wreath at the memorial.

    The national flag flew in the morning in front of all important buildings including the Vice-Chancellor’s office. Later at 10:00 a.m. a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation’s bravest sons. Cultural programmes related to Victory Day also held at the auditorium at 6:00p.m

    At 11:00 a.m. on 15 December teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession led by Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. Later at 11:30 p.m. a discussion meeting was also held at the University auditorium with Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Osman Goni in the chair. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present there as the Chief Guest. Dean of Mechanical Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. A. N. M. Mizanur Rahman, Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Shebendra Shekher Sikder, Dean of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Nurunnabi Mollah addressed as the Special Guest. Among others Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department Dr. Md.Nawsher Ali Moral, Dr. Naseem Ahmed, Deputy Registrar and President of Officer’s Association G M Shahidul Alam, among staff Md. Rabiul Islam Shohag, Public Relation & Information Office and among the students Shauren Barua spoke in the meeting. The speakers called for an early trial of the war criminals and the killers of the intellectuals.
