Undergraduate Program:

The Department of Textile Engineering is a new department at the Khulna University of to get quality education in Textile Engineering. This department will help to produce qualified engineers with appropriate knowledge and skills for development of textile sector through expansion of facilities for modern Textile education and research in the country. This program will help a lot to generate sufficient number of Textile Engineers in the country with a view to meet the ever increasing demand due to globalization and technological development, to provide up to date technological knowledge to various organization within and outside the country, to create opportunity for higher education and research in the field of Textile Engineering, to develop professional man power in the field of spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, finishing and readymade garments. This program is aimed at providing students with a broad-based education and creating in them the ability to innovate & design new textile products & processes and emerging textile technologies such as non-wovens and technical textiles. Every effort should be made to pass students not just the ‘technical information’ but impart ‘real knowledge’ with critical & creative thinking, analytical reasoning and problem- solving skills. Another core aim of this program is to teach students the ‘human skills’ along with the ‘technical skills’ so as to have not only their intelligent quotient but also their ‘social intelligence’ in order to make them good and productive citizens of Bangladesh. The Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering curriculum covers the fundamental aspect of Textile Engineering, Textile Fibers, Polymer Engineering, emphasizes on Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, Chemistry, Physics, Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering in the first year. The other three years are devoted to Computer programming and its applications to Textiles, Electrical Circuits, Machines and Electronics, Textile Physics, Statistical Analysis and Quality Control, Weaving Engineering, Solid Mechanics and Machine Design, Sociology and Economics, Fabric Structure and Design, Instrumentation of Quality Control, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing in Textiles, Textile Testing and Quality Control, Yarn Manufacturing Engineering, Knitting, Wet Processing Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial and Operation Management, Nonwoven and Nanotechnology in Textiles, Technical Textiles, Waste Management and Pollution Control in Textile, Maintenance and Management of Textile Machinery, Merchandizing and Marketing. The curriculum includes theoretical courses, Laboratory works, industrial training and different field trips.
