Postgraduate Program

The postgraduate program has a vigorous, rapidly expanding program of advanced studies and research in the areas of both pure and applied mathematics. Since 2000 the mathematics department has been offering postgraduate programs namely M.Phil. (Masters of Philosophy) and Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) in Mathematics. From July 2014, the Department is also offering M.Sc. (Master of Science) degree in Mathematics. To achieve M.Sc. degree, a student have to complete 36 credit hours of which 18 credit hours of thesis work is to be done along with course works. For the degree of M. Phil students have to complete a minimum of 48 credits hours of which 24 credits hours is assigned to a thesis work. The degree requirements of Ph.D. are 6o credits hours of which a maximum of 45 credits hours of thesis works.

The postgraduate program has the following area of specialization: Lattice Theory, Fuzzy Mathematics, Fluid Dynamics, Magneto Hydrodynamics, Meteorology, Optimization, Experimental Design, Evaluation Algorithm, Nonlinear Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, Operation Research, Optimization and Nonlinear Dynamical System.
