Computer Lab

Modern age is an age of science and technology. Considering this thinking, IEM department have a computer lab for students. It is well furnished and decorated with central air conditioned. There are 30 computers with ergonomic seating arrangement for the students in the lab. The purpose of this lab is to provide ideas about the computer fundamental, different programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python etc., different statistical software and different design and simulation software. The lab is also equipped with multimedia projector and high-speed internet connection.

Mechanics Lab

Experimentation and testing plays an important role in design and construction of new mechanical or structural elements. The purpose of this lab is to familiarize students with the standard test carried out in the mechanics of material for the mechanical properties test of the materials and to create the scope of further research in the field of material science. This lab is enriched with some new and modernized testing machines including Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Rockwell Hardness Tester, Impact Testing Machine, Torsion Tester, STR2-Bending Moments in a Beam.

CAM and Robotics Lab

The lab is equipped with different modern machines like CNC lathe machine and an industrial robot. From this lab students can learn different cutting techniques, different coding techniques such as G Code, M Code and its applications. It is well furnished with good seating arrangements. The lab is also equipped with modern computer, multimedia projector and high-speed internet connection. More an industrial robot named robotek II work-cell is also included in the lab for simulating and presenting different automation work in a production floor by the robot through different robot control program.

Quality Control Lab

Quality control lab is one of the most important facilities in IEM department. The lab serves the students in acquiring profound practical knowledge about how to use quality testing tools to measure quality, to detect defects of production, to apply different quality tests, and process control system. The Lab is enriched with some new and modernized testing and measuringequipments including Portable Surface Roughness Tester, Bevel Protector, Precision Measurement, Micrometer, Vernier and Spring Calipers, Micrometer, Bore, Thickness, Pitch and Slip Gauges. Basic Statistics that are conducted in Quality Control Laboratories are,

• Demonstrate the difference between accuracy and performance.


• Calculate the mean, standard deviation and co-efficient of variation for measured data.


• Construct control chart, process capability analysis, and Chi-square test.


• Use distribution theories to examine the spread of observed data.


• Conduct tests on Variance (F tests), Means (t tests), and interpret confidence intervals.

Ergonomics Lab

Ergonomics lab is concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data and methods to design in order to optimize human well-being and overall system performance. Ergonomics is employed to interconnect health and productivity. It is relevant in the design safe furniture and easy-to-use interfaces to machines and equipments. Proper ergonomic design is necessary to prevent repetitive strain injuries, which can develop over time and can lead to long-term disability of human being.

Library

Industrial Engineering and Management departmental library is situated on the ground floor. This library houses a wide collection of books on science, engineering and technology to the academic needs of students and teachers. The collection includes books on various areas of Industrial and Production Engineering such as Operations Management, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Quality Control, Production Planning and Control, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Machine Design etc. and other materials like thesis paper, industrial practice reports, proceeding of conference, magazines and journals are also available. Students are allowed to rent and read books as well as other education materials available in the library.
